not only has Axl got a bunch of no experience wannabes managing his affairs, he also has a poxy rep for not showing up on time or storming off. Those two serious issues would make me think long and hard about this if I was a promoter in these hard times.

Is there still anybody that is surprised to see how disorganized Axl is?  Those guys must be paid really well to put up with all that shit.

I'd never considered how the changable nature of the band would be rough on guys like bumble...never thought of it before but it makes a lot of sense...you can't make any plans in case something happens...then if it doesn't you are frustrated.

I must say though, from the glimpse I had backstage at GNR, it looked like Del James works his ass off on the road with the band. Watching them pack up the production was like a war zone and he seemed on top of it all. It really opened up my eyes a bit to how hard what he does is,  and so I do think it's easy to underestimate what is involved in stuff at the level of GNR and the other major worldwide acts.

Add into that some of the particular dynamics about GNR - reputation etc, and that it seems sometimes GNR do things a little more independently than many acts (who no doubt recieve tour support from labels/tour companies but at the loss of some free will that I doubt Axl would like to loose) and I can understand why it's a hard thing to make happen.

I understand why USA fans are getting inpatient cos it's been a long wait for them, and hopefully something will happen eventually.

The gnr 'family' situation might be pretty unorthodox but I feel the criticism of them is misdirected as it's my opinion that it's those people that keep Axl happy enough that anything happens at all. There might be corporations who could be brought in to run stuff smoother (due to their industry and financial power) but if Axl doesn't trust them, eventually the wheels would fall right off. If history shows us anything it's that Axl values his independance rather than becomming a record company lacky.

So people can give someone like Beta a hardtime but who knows if Axl would even still be alive if he hadn't found the solace he apparently finds with her family.

I'm even passed that point by now.  GNR is the band that has the WORST management ever in the music business.  No one comes even close.

Funny thing is that the situation is the same, although managers come and go. Only Azoff was able to organize things a little bit (maybe due to the close-to-break-up situation with the label), but even he wasn't able to get them on the road while the album was 'new'.
