I really liked Nine Lives, had some great rockers, along with the typical radio friendly Aerosmith stuff. Didn't like Just Push Play though.

I feel that same way. Just Push Play might be the only album more overproduced than Chinese Democracy.
Also it's being left completely out of the conversation (I assume becuase it's mostly covers) but I thought Honkin' On Bobo was great. It's a good inbetweener of poppy modern Aerosmith and bluesy old Aerosmith.

They need to call it a day. Period.
Absolutely agreed. I always thought they should've called it after Don't Wanna Miss A Thing. Sure, alot of people thought it was a sellout, but I thought it was a great ballad, and it was freakin' huge, plus it was the last time they were back in the mainstream.
I thought it would've been a good swan song to say, "we came again and conquered, thank you all, we love you - good night", and just retire - forever.
That's how I would've liked it, and I thought it was the right time. Everything since has just been too much. They're tired. Aerosmith pretty much proves what Robert Plant was saying about not wanting to go back to Led Zeppelin.

Just Push Play was awful, but that doesn't justify an opinion about "they should call it a day". It's just silly. They are great song makers, and as long as they have been making good songs in the past, they can make it again, and I'm not denying myself or others the possibility that they can come out with some great rock songs again. It's so..I don't know...melodramatic? I mean, what the fuck?
Led Zeppelin was great when they were around I guess, but since they've been dumb enough to follow some of you chaps ideas of packing it up before their time was up, we've missed out on potentially several dozen of amazing songs that never happened.
Honkin on Bobo was also a great cover CD.
Just Push Play it was SUCH garbage, but I didn't once think "quit you fucks" because of it. Just take a break and come back with something else. Maybe it's good this time.
Seriously, what the fuck. A bad album is a bad album, but as long as music is being made I'm happy. If everyone thinks like this, there's will be no bands left to make the music we actually like.

Bands who pull the circus bullshit that Aerosmith has in the last few years just to get attention should call it a day. End of story.
It's politics, and it's embaressing, but it got nothing to do with the songs I listen to, and will listen to if they make a record. Couldn't care less what they say, act or do. Irrelevant. If they create a few good songs I can listen to, all is well from my part. My opinion is much of the same with GNR. I seperate the nonsense from my own entertainment value, and I want the music and I want something to play while I surf the web, clean the house, whatever. One less Aerosmith album than what they could have produced are just that, one less album to be entertained over and therefore a loss.
But the crap they've been doing in the media does nothing for their image so I'm sure they lost a few sales there. But that's of no relevance to me. They can take that decision themselves instead of having people going "call it a day".
Again, I don't get that. What good comes out of it? Silence? Is that...like...good?
