Legendary guitarist Slash (VELVET REVOLVER, GUNS N' ROSES) joined ALTER BRIDGE on stage last night (Tuesday, January 4) at the House Of Blues in West Hollywood, California to perform the song "Rise Today". Fan-filmed video footage of his appearance can be viewed below (courtesy of Metal Assault).

Slash previously performed "Rise Today" with ALTER BRIDGE on November 2, 2010 at Arenan in Stockholm, Sweden.

Slash wrote on his Twitter profile shortly after the Stockholm concert, "That was cool and totally unexpected. ALTER BRIDGE sounds fantastic live. First time I've seen them in person. I think we're going to do it again very soon."

ALTER BRIDGE singer Myles Kennedy has served as Slash's touring vocalist for the past several months, leading to speculation that the guitarist may try to recruit Kennedy to front VELVET REVOLVER — which is something that Slash has denied. "[Myles] is still committed to ALTER BRIDGE," Slash told BostonHerald.com. "I don't want to be the guy responsible for breaking up a band. But we'll find someone. Maybe not somebody known, but some kind of local hero."

Kennedy had actually been approached to sing for VELVET REVOLVER back in the early days of the group, and again after they parted ways with Scott Weiland, but turned down the offer both times.

Myles spends WAY too much time with Slash for a guy who's NOT gonna join VR.

Makes me almost wonder if Slash is doing this to try and convince the VR guys.

Video footage of VAN HALEN bass player Wolfgang Van Halen sitting in on drums for the song "One Day Remains" during ALTER BRIDGE's January 4, 2011 concert at the House of Blues in Hollywood, California can be viewed below. According to The Pulse Of Radio, Wolfgang's father Eddie Van Halen watched the performance from the side of the stage. Although later reports said that Eddie had been thinking about playing as well, he chose not to perform at the event.

Later, for the encore of "Rise Today", the band was joined by GUNS N' ROSES/VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash. ALTER BRIDGE frontman Myles Kennedy also sings in Slash's touring band, with whom he'll hit the road later this month for an opening slot on Ozzy Osbourne's tour.

ALTER BRIDGE has been on the road behind its latest album, "AB III", which features the Top Five rock radio track "Isolation".

The band's 2008 concert DVD, "Live From Amsterdam", will be released on Blu-ray next Tuesday (January 11). Filmed in 2008 during the band's world tour behind its "Blackbird" album, the disc features 18 songs performed live in addition to a documentary on the band and photo gallery.

yeah I thought that for a while too, like maybe someone in VR wasn't into the music with myles or thought that myles was too much of an unknown quantity despite alterbridge (like when you watch the 'rise of VR' matt isn't into the unknown guy but digs scott cos he's from STP).

So like maybe he does a sucessful tour with slash as kinda a proving ground to show he'd have what it takes to do VR's bigger shows etc.

But then Slash was pretty blunt on "That Metal Show" that he's going to play with myles half the year, then play with VR when AB is busy, so I guess that does mean they're going for someone else.

As i've ranted before though, it's hard to imagine what's wrong with myles - he sings Scott's stuff VERY well, he looks good with slash, his writing effort with him was cool too.

But hey - this way if VR also find a great frontman we'll have two kickass bands I guess.

I think there could be weight in what you have been saying for a while Monkeychow about somone in VR perhaps not liking him.

If VR get someone else and it's a flop then Slash still has the Myles avenue to fall back on.  This way he is able to hedge his bets quite nicely.

I think it's Duff that doesn't want Myles fronting VR & I agree with him. Duff is from Seattle and Myles is from Spokane, so they must be familiar with one another. Duff is a smart business man. Afterall, he rehabilitated Weiland & brought him into the fold. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Duff(and his wife) doesn't think Myles is rock n' roll enough to front his band.

The biggest reason, as has been said before, Myles just doesn't have the time to do VR AND Slash's solo band. It's one or the other.

His schedule is already packed with just AB & Slash. Throwing VR in there, and the dude would almost never have any time off.

The only reason it's possible, is I could see Slash postponing his solo jaunt if Myles was interested in joining VR.
