I think it greatly helps the melodies for WITM by getting the band involved in singing harmonies or just backing vocals on the chorus.
That unison-singing really gives the song something special, and it may be the 80's kid coming out of me and all that melodic rock-influence, but I love that stuff when bands do it.

I was at the other end of the bar and didn't see the whole thing. I'm sure he can log in and tell the story himself, but from what I understand, it went down like this:
Ultra drunk guy was stumbling in dr_love's way and dr_love couldn't get by. So dr_love put his hands on the guys shoulders and said "Hey brother, can I get by ya?" which led to ultra drunk guy pushing dr_love and saying something along the lines of "GET YOUR FUCKING HANDS OFF ME YA FUCKIN FAGGOT" which in turn lead to the bitch slap.
Funniest part of the story is that the dude on the receiving end of the slap got wrestled to the ground and thrown out. The band then got our tab comped by the owner and we got re-booked for March!
Total rock n' roll moment.
