GEEZER BUTLER Says BLACK SABBATH Reunion With OZZY Won't Happen Before 2012 - Dec. 8, 2010
AOL's Noisecreep recently conducted an interview with legendary heavy metal bassist Geezer Butler (HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH). A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

Noisecreep: The show [for HEAVEN & HELL's "Neon Nights" DVD] was filmed on July 30, 2009. How long after that did Ronnie [James Dio] become ill?

Geezer: He started really going downhill in September, towards the end of the U.S. part of the tour. The U.S. tour was supposed to have two parts. We did the first four weeks, then Tony [Iommi, guitar] had something happen to his hand and he had to have an operation immediately. So we had to postpone the second part of the tour so Tony could have his hand looked at. And Ronnie's stomach problems got worse and worse. He was going to do a DIO tour in Europe and he was rehearsing for that, but his stomach kept getting worse. Then he went to the doctor and the doctor didn't say anything about it at first. He just gave him some constipation medicine and said he was severely constipated. And then he went to a specialist and they told him it was stomach cancer.

Noisecreep: Had Ronnie been exhibiting signs of stomach cancer?

Geezer: He'd been having stomach aches, but everyone gets flu or food poisoning when you're on tour. You're in front of 10,000 people, and 2,000 might have the flu. There are all these germs around, so you always get something when you're on tour. And Ronnie was getting these stomach pains. One night he'd be alright and the next night he'd be doubled up in pain. The last week of the American tour he was in agony. I'll always remember he came out for the very last gig and we said, "Look, Ronnie, if you're that ill, we'll just blow the gig." And he said, "No, I'm not gonna blow the gig." And he was literally doubled up in pain. And he just made himself go on. He totally refused to cancel the show. So he went on and we thought, "Oh, God, what's gonna happen?" None of us ever thought cancer, we just thought it was a severe stomach bug. And then at this time last year, just after Halloween he went in and got the report it was cancer. It was just one of those things you don't expect to happen.

Noisecreep: There have been reports about another BLACK SABBATH tour with Ozzy Osbourne. Is that going to happen in 2011?

Geezer: I have no idea what's happening with that. It's not going to happen next year. Ozzy's on tour with his own band for the next year or whatever. The idea of doing another SABBATH tour always comes up. It's just something that's always talked about and there if we want to do it. It's sort of really early days, though. I'm sure Ozzy will say yes and no every week for the next year while he's on tour. It's one thing to want to do something like that just before you go out to tour a record. You say, "Oh yeah, I'm gonna tour for the next five years." And then six weeks into it, you can't wait to get home. So we'll just see how he feels when he finishes his Ozzy Osbourne tour.

Noisecreep: Will there be any posthumous HEAVEN & HELL releases featuring Ronnie?

Geezer: No. There is no more stuff. That's it. We've never had leftover material ever. That's how we got back together when they wanted to put out [a greatest hits record of BLACK SABBATH's] Dio years. They wanted some extra tracks to put on it, and we didn't have any because whatever we do we put out. That's why we got together to do the three extra tracks on the compilation. And it went so well, we went from there and toured and did another album. We were having a great time. We never imagined that we wouldn't have the chance to do more.

OZZY OSBOURNE Postpones Remaining Two Shows Due To Ear Infection - Dec. 10, 2010
Based on advice from doctors, Ozzy Osbourne has postponed the remaining two dates (Friday, December 10 at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri and Sunday, December 12 at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota) on his current U.S. tour. The multi-platinum Rock And Roll Hall of Famer has contracted an ear infection, complications from which will prevent him from performing. Tickets for these two shows will be honored for the rescheduled dates — Minneapolis on Wednesday, January 12 and St. Louis on Friday, January 14 (with special guest Slash) — and refunds are available at point of purchase.

Osbourne's 2011 dates get underway January 12 in Minneapolis. The six-week 2011 trek will include a pair of intimate shows: January 26 at the Dodge Theater in Phoenix and February 1 at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles. Ozzy's longtime friend and musical collaborator Slash will open all the concerts on the second leg.

Ozzy Osbourne will publish a new book called "Ask Dr. Ozzy" next year. The book will be co-written with Chris Ayres, who collaborated with Ozzy on his memoir "I Am Ozzy", and is a spin-off of the singer's ongoing column in England's Sunday Times in which he offers medical advice.

According to the publisher, the book will "tell incredible survival stories not found in his memoir, offer advice that no human should follow, and shed light on his seemingly superhuman ability to keep breathing." An October 2011 release is expected.

OZZY OSBOURNE: 'I'm Getting A Bit Sick Of LADY GAGA' - Dec. 22, 2010
Ozzy Osbourne has told UsMagazine.com he is "getting a bit sick" of Lady Gaga, saying the pop star is "just too overexposed".

"I do think Lady Gaga should take a break for a little while," Osbourne told the magazine. "She's getting to be too much, and she doesn't watch the exposure of her clothes. She's just too overexposed. I like her, but I'm getting a bit sick of her. When I turn on the TV, I see her wearing another lamp shade or whatever. She needs to take a break, I think, for an hour or so."

"I love her, I think she's really, really entertaining, but she's doing a bit too much," he added. "Every day it is something else. The specialness of her is gonna get killed if she doesn't calm it down. Who manages her? Someone should whisper in her ear and say back off for a couple of months — let people gain interest back. Let people want you, you know?"

During Gaga's February 5, 2010 appearance on Ryan Seacrest's radio show (hear audio below), Seacrest played the singer an excerpt from an interview he conducted with Ozzy in which Osbourne said of Gaga, "She's very clever, very interesting. She's wacky and I like the zaniness of that woman."

According to MTV.com, this news pleased Gaga to no end. "Are you kidding? I'm the biggest BLACK SABBATH fan on Earth!" She even told Seacrest a story about how when she was a go-go dancer, one of her show-stopping numbers was to the SABBATH tune "Black Sabbath".

OZZY OSBOURNE Autographs $100 Bill For Homeless Guy - Dec. 22, 2010
According to NationalEnquirer.com, Ozzy Osbourne gave a homeless person $100 bill after the Toronto, Ontario, Canada man told him he was a fan and explained he had been a struggling rock musician until falling on hard times. The man gratefully accepted the bill and asked the legendary heavy metal singer for an autograph. Ozzy then reportedly took back the $100 note, signed it and handed it back to his fan, saying: "Maybe now it's worth more than a 100 bucks." Then he shook hands and trundled off.

Totally see what he's saying. You have to find comfort in Christmas through love. Whether it be family, helping others, whatever. If that doesn't comfort you, then I don't know what you really can do other than just dope up for a couple weeks.

Christmas has become so bastardized and so commercial, that it's hard to find meaning in it anymore beyond the capitalist's holiday of the year.

Personally i've found the best way is to relive the magic through kids. Elementary-aged kids still totally psych out about it, so when I see them happy and riding high on joy, that's where I tap back into it. You can find it anywhere really, they're always around in some way. I guess you gotta love/like kids for that to work tho....
