Re: Possible Song Titles on CD Followup Album??
Why should Down By The Ocean be ruled out? It's one of the few tracks Axl specfically referenced as late as the chats 2008/09, and he also stated it was an Izzy track.
Some people think Izzy relased his parts of the track alone. The song Box has the lyrics
He lives in a box down by the ocean
Down off the main road by the hill
Takes what he finds and eats it right there
Makes what he can with what he will
He don't ride the bus
They don't let him drive
There he walks for miles, a day
Cause he ain't got no ride
He lives in a box down by the ocean
Down by the sea side at the hill
Palm trees it ain't the beauty look, good though
Eventhough he looks pretty ill
He lives in a box down by the ocean
Down by the sea side at the hill
Palm trees it ain't the beauty look, good though
Eventhough he looks pretty ill
He lives in a box down by the ocean
Down by the sea side at the hill
Palm trees it ain't the beauty look, good though
Eventhough he looks pretty ill
It's not conculsive, but given Axl said Izzy was involved in the track it does make you raise an eyebrow.
It wouldn't be the first time something like that happened either - look at the way the Vr demo "Pleazin" became "Ghost" on slash's album - and I think VR's "Do It For the Kids" shares a riff with an Izzy song too - as they worked on it together then went their seperate ways and different places with the song.
Be interesting to see if this is the same song, parts of the same song, or just a related theme. I don't think it really rules it out though even if it is that song.

Re: Possible Song Titles on CD Followup Album??
^Nice. That's why I wonder if something similar might have happened with Axl. Like maybe they jammed, then Izzy went and wrote Box, and Axl's version became this "Down at the Ocean" song...or maybe they're completely unrelated and it's just a co-incidence. It just seems odd that Axl says izzy was involved with the track and then izzy uses the same phrase in a song several times.

Re: Possible Song Titles on CD Followup Album??
I think Jackie Chan/Checkmate/The General are all one and the same, didn't Axl confirm this in the online chats?
Re: Possible Song Titles on CD Followup Album??
no axl said we heard parts of the general somewhere....turns out we heard it as concert intros as confirmed by GNR twitter...before everyone had connected "checkmate" as being "the general" because Jackie chan is in a movie called the myth where he portrays "the general"
