Re: Slash in Summer 1996: 80 new songs between he, Duff, and Axl

In this interview, which seems to date around from the summer of '96, he says that the band is working on "tons" of new songs and between he, Duff and Axl there are probably 80 new songs.
He also claims that yesterday, the band "concealed" their contract. I have no clue what that means....
But I figured I'd put this up here. I love your Chinese Whispers project and anything I find that could be added to it, I'll post. You guys should make a book out of it, it's really the most complete history of GN'R post 1993 which I've ever seen, and it reads like a novel.

August '96, to be exact. He mentions the Slash's Blues Ball show to be held in Budapest.

"We signed some document that we'd agree to have put in escrow for a certain amount of time to see if we could work things out. But if we didn't agree to put the terms into effect by certain point, the contract would be null and void, so I signed and let it go. [...] I was forced into a secondary role, while Axl was now offically at the helm if I officially let the escrow contract become effective." (Slash, Autobiography)

In this case, escrow likely means "an arrangement where an independent trusted third-party receives and disburses money and/or documents for two or more transacting parties, with the timing of such disbursement by the third-party dependent on the performance by the parties of agreed-upon contractual provisions".
Axl in one end, Duff and Slash in the other, with a third party in between to ensure a new record is made on Axl's terms.

Re: Slash in Summer 1996: 80 new songs between he, Duff, and Axl
Nice find and this shows that either Slash lies through his teeth.
why? He says they have tons of songs "between Duff, Axl and I".
Since this time Axl has put out Chinese, and is known to have at least enough material on hold for a second album.
Slash has put out Snakepit 2, Contraband, Libertad, and the Solo Album.
Duff has put out Dark Days and Sick with Loaded.
It's also likely that they have a lot of half formed song ideas, as we know both Slash and Axl at least work that way.
While not all of those projects would have been ready to go, it's not really a stretch to think that these guys had some solos songs ready to introduce to the rest of the band.

Hmm I missed that quote when reading his book. What was Slasn and Duff's payoff for signing the contract, i.e. what end of the bargain was Axl supposed to hold up I wonder in order to release the contract from escrow?
