Legendary guitarist Slash (VELVET REVOLVER, GUNS N' ROSES) was interviewed on the November 30, 2010 episode of Conan O'Brien's new nighttime talk show on TBS, "Conan". You can now watch his appearance below.

According to The Pulse Of Radio, ALTER BRIDGE frontman and Slash touring singer Myles Kennedy told Music Radar in a new interview that contrary to rumor, he was not offered the lead vocalist spot in VELVET REVOLVER following the departure of Scott Weiland. Kennedy explained, "There was talk of that, but no, I was never officially given that offer. I think it was floated around, it was mentioned, and it would be a huge honor because I think the guys in VELVET REVOLVER are tremendous. But I'm very happy with what I'm doing in ALTER BRIDGE and Slash."

Kennedy added that he was approached by VELVET REVOLVER about singing when the band was first forming, before Weiland came on board. He recalled, "They had reached out to me in 2002 when they were just getting together. They had sent me a demo tape, and I kind of sat on it for a month, and I didn't really follow up on it."

When asked why he didn't follow up, Kennedy replied, "I was going through a very strange time in my life back then. I had grown very disillusioned with music and the music business and everything. My mind just wasn't in the right place."

Kennedy contributed some vocals to Slash's debut solo album and has been his touring vocalist since the spring. Kennedy confirmed that Slash wants him to sing all the songs on his next album: "That's the plan. I know he's working on some ideas now. I love playing with Slash, and the chemistry I have with the rest of the guys in his band is fantastic. I'm really looking forward to seeing what he comes up with for the next record."

Meanwhile, Kennedy's other band, ALTER BRIDGE, released its new album "AB III" last month and will begin a U.S. tour on December 10 in Michigan. Kennedy will rejoin Slash's band on January 16, when Slash begins an opening stint for OZZY OSBOURNE.

That game popped in my mind while reading this interview.

This is all very strange.

So what i'm hearing is:

* Myles never turned down VR last time, he was just depressed and never completed making an audition tape.

* While he is satisfied with his life playing with Slash/Alterbridge he also likes the VR guys and would be honoured to be in VR.

* His alterbride comitments seem flexible enough that he can record and tour at length with slash.

* Slash likes Myles enough to not only use him for a lengthy tour, give him two songs on the solo record, but now make a follow up record with JUST him.

So it begs the question.

WHY then is Myles not in VR. He could do VR and Alterbridge just like he does Alterbridge and Slash.

From these facts, there is no logical reason to me other than my conspiracy theory: Either Duff, Dave or Matt must have some kind of issue with having him in the band. What else could it be?

Slash. Maybe there Duff or Matt doesn't like Myles, but the other guy must like him a lot, since it wasn't Slash who suggested Kennedy's name in the first place, cause he didn't even know him back then.

But it can be Slash, who doesn't want Myles to join VR. Simply because he wants to do his own stuff (with him) and he'd have hard time in VR to push through his ideas. The others weren't interested in Slither, remember? So it's no wonder that Slash wanna work and play music with someone who inspires him, without the band drama.

Interesting theory. Karma...hadn't thought of that.

So I'm gunna go on a huge limb here.

In 1994 or whenever, Slash was in GNR and Axl wasn't digging his riffs (according to slash - or According to Axl - Slash wasn't accepting his input)- whatever the case they didn't agree - the end result was Snakepit.

Then post libertad VR go on a quest for a singer. Come up with nothing. Then slash goes solo with a riff (ghost) that's known to be a VR demo riff.

Thoe recent comments you refer to about the slither riff, and VR songwriting process, coupled with his comments about going solo about being captian of his own ship. Then add in duff's whimsical remarks about "we might never find the guy" and I wonder if VR is in a massive stalemate and slash is just doing this solo stuff cos he's given up on agreeing with them.

He talks about how VR will come back. Duff says their best album is yet to come. I love them and think they have definate chemesty. But yeah...I must say as much as I want a slash/myles album REAL BAD - the prospect of slash doing a 2nd solo album really does look to me like VR has some kind of serious internal problem.

But who knows. Maybe they're just not wanting to rush to find the guy. But i'm really starting to think VR with myles and doing slash baised tracks would kick ass more than anything they're likely to find easily - unless some kind of miricle happens.

Yeah, VR with Myles would be great. Slash's solo album had a bunch of amazing ideas, but it really lacked a great bass player and a good drummer. He only had session musicians, who didn't put too much into the recordings. But look at Watch This - as soon as he got an inspired rhythm duo, the whole dynamic of the song changed and it became a monster. With VR, both are given.
So I hope that if Slash continues the solo route, he'll at least get the little Bonham and a bass player of Duff caliber.

The live band Slash currently has on tour with him are great, I'd be happy to see those guys in the studio along with Slash and Myles.

This is obviously completely just my opinion and I could be totally off, but I always got the sense that Duff wasn't all that enamored with Myles. Back when Duff and Slash did that radio show together on WAAF (Boston) promoting Slash's album, Slash brought up Myles auditioning for VR almost begging for Duff to gush about him and he just didn't. Of course I could be reading WAY too much into it, and I probably am. But that's how I took it.

Anyways, it was great to see Slash on Conan the other night. Too bad he didn't get a little more time on the couch, but the show was jam packed that night with Charles Barkley, Dr. Drew, and some awful comedian. They could've done without his horrible act and given us some more Slash. Slash is a great promoter, gotta give him that. He works for it. That's what I miss most about him not being in GNR. I can accept the new guys as players, but none of them can "sell it" like Slash. Or Duff, for that matter. They just don't have the name recognition yet, and I doubt they'll ever get it.

Yeah...i'm always on about this...but Slash and Duff just belong together...it's something about the way they sound together just sounds awesome. Dave Ghrol is a monster drummer too of course. But yeah...I sort of agree...it's not that I had much of a problem with the drum and bass parts on the album really...but when you hear VR or something like "Get this" you can feel the power they have together.

Although I got to admit Metalalex also has a point - the live band seemed pretty damn kickass too....it's really a hell of a night out at those shows....so a studio of them would be good.

But that's the thing to me...I go to those shows and it's so good, i then think if Duff and Matt were there as well....you'd have an instant very high level outfit.
