well man in fairness 2 gnr/axl the lack of promotion wasn't entirely their fault. they've had no label support for donkeys plus the whole azoff bizness - of course in the long term that can all be traced back to bad decisions/behaviour from axl/gnr, but at the time they had no help in gettin the record/singles promoted.
i think from the chats @ the time axl said something like monumental promotion will start soon so maybe he did want to try & push the record but was scuppered by his poor bizness relations..
it'll likely be the same next time around, no label support no videos.. unless they are releasing it during the US leg of the tour..... that's if there even is an album 2 release of course..

No, it is entirely Axl's fault. All of the problems were created by him. He snubbed the label, he hired Azoff, he fired all of the managers, he chose to rerecord everything a gazillion times. That is why it will be exactly the same...because the same guy is calling the shots.

When you're trying to make a statement that you're back, you have to put your best foot forward right away. The interest was already there. They needed to seize the opportunity and they didn't. You can build if you're new or you've stayed around. You can't if you've been hiding in a cave in Malibu with your thumb in your mouth.
I'm pretty sure the strategy applies no matter what stage your career is at.
If you want the album to have a long stay in the spotlight, you don't place all your bets on one horse. Pretty simple and logical.
Anything at htgth is immediately dismissed for...well...for being from that site.
You have a variation of people over there as you do here. Whether or not you can post what you want is a different question. But polls like that will likely turn out "correct".

HGTH is a fresh breath @ times for me. They do control things there. But it also keeps threads positive. It does get old seeing every thread rehash the same old same old you know?
Im not putting this site down, but sometimes I follow threads there more than here. on the other hand i never post there.
How about you think whether or not we need that discussion for the umpteenth time?
Doesn't exactly require a Master degree to figure out that it's been done to fucking death already and the only ones who wanna whine about it are people like you.
If that's the only thing that interests you in a time when GN'R are on tour, just leave already.

Nobody but Axl stopped Gn'R from getting out and promoting the album. Did the label stop him from getting on SNL, leno, letterman? No. Did the label stop him from doing a sit down interview on any type of talk show? no. Did the label stop Axl from doing an indepth interview with Rolling Stone or any other type of publication? No. Those are all things that coudl have been done. the album got plenty of promo on tv commercials and it had enough buzz simply based on the fact it was the long awaited Chinese Democrcy. the lack of label support when it coms to this may be true but there was more than enough opportunity for Axl to promote the thing on his own and he passed. It's his fault end of story Enough with making excuses for him.

My only issue with HTGTH was the it seemed you have to dislike old stuff in order to prove love of new stuff and it doesn't work like that for me.
For example, I think Chinese Democracy is great, but I'm not going to start implying there's problems with Use Your Illusion to prove it.
I enjoy Velvet Revolver, but that doesn't mean I don't think DJ Ashba sounds great in GNR, and I don't need for things to be a constant contest between Axl and Slash.
I don't think any of those things are Jarmo's fault, but it often seems to interact with people that post there you have to either be Pro-Axl + Anti-Slash on everything, or you have to be anti-axl and pro slash and soon get banned.
There's little room it seems for people like me who actually enjoy both Axl and Slash, support all the related bands including VR and new GNR fully and wish both of them the best.

Jarmo is a lemming. That site has gone down the tubes in the way monkeychow describes because he has steered it in that direction. Jarmo would be one of the first to slam the current members if Axl approved of an original lineup reunion. He'd say shit like: ~"this is what the fans, myself included have always wanted and if you're gonna be the type of person who can only bring up the the CD era lineup in a time when the real Guns N' Roses is back together you're just in the wrong place. Enough with the CD era lineup cause it was never really Guns to begin with"~

So I heard mention of him being at several shows. Do guns cater to him? Is he just a fan? Is he in contact on a regular basis with the band? I never have understood that whole thing.
Why would a site owner/Admin care to follow such an extreme? I understood it to be mostly deleting posts from people taking thread off topic or trolling with negativity. I mean one of the sections there is "Yesterdays wasnt it fun"
Again not really taking sides here, just trying to understand. I have been off gnr net from 02-06ish. RIR brought me back
