Re: Billy Joel interviewed by Howard Stern

Yes it is. Do you think I'm making things up as I go along? Listen to the Stern interview. He talks about that magazine interview and says it was false and the song was indeed about Christie Brinkley. I'll choose to believe Billy's spoken word over the written word of some journalist.
No one's denying what you heard obviously but you gotta admit its likely a bit of spin as so many Joel fans cherish that song and have always assumed it was about their early relationship.
There's obviously truth to it as some random journalist wouldn't have known he was fucking various models in that little clique of Brinkley, Macpherson, Houston, etc. and wound up falling for Brinkley.
I think he, and I, explained it pretty clearly. The song started out as "Uptown GIRLS", about all the top notch tail he was getting at the time. But things changed and the song became about ONE "Uptown Girl", which was Christie Brinkley.
Guys, it couldn't be any easier to listen to it for yourself. It's like the FIRST thing discussed in the interview. It starts around the 1:20 mark, then Howard goes off on a little tangent and it picks back up around the 4:20 mark. Then, Howard goes off on another tangent and picks it up around the 7:20 mark. Bottom line, Billy says the song IS about Christie and they had gotten the story wrong. It's as simple as that.

Which is pretty much exactly was I was saying. He was fucking that clique of models which was the inspiration behind it. While it may have morphed into being about her, the song itself was not written specifically for her, which is what was believed for many years.

Okay. But Axlin, seemed to be saying it was about Elle hands down and not Christie, and the article pretty much alluded to that. When that was NOT the case. It WAS about Christie, with a twist of Elle, et al. Just trying to clear that up.
And for the record, Billy never banged Whitney Houston.
Re: Billy Joel interviewed by Howard Stern
On the topic of Whitney while its been brought up, anyone remember the old mag article where it talked about Slash flirting with Houston which made her uncomfortable right after the infamous drunk profane speech at the AMAs?
Wish someone would eventually archive all those articles from the late 80s/early 90s.
Re: Billy Joel interviewed by Howard Stern
Which is insane because Whitney was a hot piece of ass in the 80s. If I had em lined up legs spread, I'd go with Elle first, Whitney second, and Brinkley last.
Whitney was quite young at the time, 16. She was a model back then and he "lost track of her". It sounds to me like ONE night it was Christie, Whitney, and Elle all surrounding him and swooning over him as he played the piano. Obviously he had his moments with 2 of the 3, but things didn't click with Whitney.
