A documentary covering the history of Sammy Hagar's (CHICKENFOOT, VAN HALEN) "Birthday Bash" and Cabo Wabo Cantina, "Go There Once, Be There Twice", will be screened on December 11 at the Throckmorton Theatre in Mill Valley, California. Hagar says, "As usual, it's going to be a party, complete with margaritas, tacos, THE WABOS  and a few of my friends will there to celebrate, too. We will have t-shirts, posters and a toy drive Guitar Picks For Presents, so bring a toy and get a pick! All proceeds go to our friends at Homeward Bound, Ritter Center and 142 Throckmorton Theatre Scholarship fund. Let's keep the party going...see you there."

A preview clip of "Go There Once, Be There Twice", featuring a live version of "Red" with video footage covering four decades of Hagar's career (produced and edited by Paul Ware), can be viewed below.

It Books, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, recently announced a deal to publish Sammy Hagar's autobiography, tentatively titled "Sammy Hagar Red", in 2011. Hagar, the multi-platinum Red Rocker, is best known as the bombastic frontman of VAN HALEN, one of the biggest-selling rock groups in history, and the lead singer of the hard rock group CHICKENFOOT.

The book was acquired by Lisa Sharkey, Senior Vice President and Director of Creative Development for HarperCollins from Frank Weimann, President of The Literary Group International. Senior Editor Matt Harper will edit the book.

Hagar will provide readers with incredible behind-the-scenes stories from his multi-platinum career, including his rise as a solo artist and his eleven years with VAN HALEN, after the controversial departure of original lead vocalist David Lee Roth. During Hagar's time with VAN HALEN, the band released four consecutive No. 1 albums. From worldwide stadium concerts tours to private jets, Hagar enjoyed the trappings of fame and success with VAN HALEN until he was, as he puts it, "unceremoniously fired." Hagar later thrived as a solo act, leading his band, the CABO WABOS, before returning triumphantly to VAN HALEN for an historic reunion tour after which he set off on his own once again.

Honest and compelling, Hagar's account spares no one, least of all himself. Hagar's autobiography reveals the inside story of one of rock music's most recognizable voices, from his humble beginnings in the town of Fontana, California, to his incredible business success with Cabo Wabo Tequila and the Cabo Wabo Cantinas. The book will be co-authored by Joel Selvin, longtime pop music writer for the San Francisco Chronicle.

Eddie Van Halen is a dick and fucked the band up not once, not twice, not three times, not even four times, but FIVE times. Fucked up the first run with Roth, fucked up the first run with Hagar, hired Gary Cherone (WTF), fucked up the second run with Hagar, then fucked up the second run with Roth by firing Michael so Wolfie could have a summer job.

Bam, end of book.

It wasn't about Cherone, it was about a THIRD singer being there. I don't care if it was Axl Rose. When your band has reached a point of needing a THIRD lead singer, you're a fucking nazi asshole who should just retire.

They lost all credibility for me from that point forward. The only thing of there's i've touched since was the Best of Both Worlds collection, which I thought was a nice set.

Which is a shame, because he didn't deserve that. Anyone with brains should've known after both the Roth & Hagar debacles and now Cherone was added to the fire that all those years it was Eddie.

If anything it vindicated Dave & Sammy. There was no way in that short of period of time it was "egotistical singers" as Eddie always made out. The guy when he was younger should've taken vocal lessons until his throat was sore if he wanted to be the frontman of a band. Guitarists will ALWAYS be second-fiddle to the singer.

No offense Dr. Love 19

VAN HALEN Reportedly Taps Producer ROSS HOGARTH For New Album - Nov. 16, 2010
According to Melodicrock.com, VAN HALEN's long-awaited new studio album is being produced by Ross Hogarth, who has previously worked with MÖTLEY CRÜE, COAL CHAMBER, FASTER PUSSYCAT and DEVILDRIVER, among others. Hogarth wrote in an early July online posting, "The record I just started ROCKS!!! [It] will be amazing... That is all I will say..."

Music publishing company Warner/Chappell Music announced in August that it had extended its publishing administration contract with guitarist Eddie Van Halen and drummer Alex Van Halen, noting that the band "is currently in the studio recording an album with (singer David Lee) Roth that is due for release in 2011."

Meanwhile, according to Billboard.com, VAN HALEN manager Irving Azoff, who is also the executive chairman of Live Nation, mentioned on two separate conference calls that VAN HALEN was expected to hit the road next year, presumably in support of a new record.

Word of a new VAN HALEN album, the band's first with original vocalist David Lee Roth on the mic since 1983, first began circulating in late June when MelodicRock.com reported from an unnamed source that the project was halfway completed.

VAN HALEN spokesperson Janie Van Halen, Eddie's wife, denied the rumors, telling Rolling Stone, "I don't have any updates at this time."

Eddie himself told Rolling Stone last year that he was working on material for a new record, but was waiting for his hand to heal from surgery and for his son and bassist Wolfgang to graduate from high school.

A new VAN HALEN record would be the band's first full studio effort since 1998's "Van Halen III", which featured Gary Cherone on lead vocals.

VAN HALEN's 2008 reunion tour with Roth grossed more than $93 million and drew nearly one million fans to 74 shows.
