Eric Blair of "The Blairing Out With Eric Blair Show" recently conducted an interview with Layla "Brooklyn" Allman, the 17-year-old daughter of legendary Southern rocker and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Gregg Allman and current frontwoman of San Francisco Bay Area poppy metalcorists PICTURE ME BROKEN. Watch the chat below.

When asked what she would say to the BLABBERMOUTH.NET naysayers who denounce PICTURE ME BROKEN as nothing more than another "emo" band that looks like they were custom-made by Disney, Brooklyn replied, "I would rather have someone hate my band than have someone be indifferent to my band. Honestly, if no one hates you in this industry, you're doing something wrong. I'd rather have people talking about us and I'd rather people get worked up enough to the fact that they'll go on those sites and post things because, essentially, that's the essence of success."

PICTURE ME BROKEN released its debut album, "Wide Awake", in early July via the legendary metal label Megaforce Records.

"Wide Awake"'s vicious opener, "Dearest (I'm So Sorry)", not only sets the tone for the band's fiery debut, but the song also earned the band an MTV VMA for "Best Breakout Bay Area Band” in 2009.

PICTURE ME BROKEN's blend of hard-rock, post-hardcore and metal is lad by the vocal onslaught of Allman, "which can move ably from a siren's call to a screeching roar at the slightest provocation," says Alternative Press. Recorded while the band was still in high school, mostly over the weekends and after class, "Wide Awake" is a collection of new and old songs that reflect the band's growth over the years. Written and recorded sporadically over a year, "Wide Awake" was recorded with notable Bay Area producers Scott Llamas of Popsmear Records and Aaron Hellam, with additional production work from Scott Gillman and famed producer Mudrock (AVENGED SEVEONFOLD, GODSMACK), with Shelly Yakus (JOHN LENNON, U2, RAMONES) of MyStudio.net after-mastering the album.

PICTURE ME BROKEN is Brooklyn (vocals, synth), Nick Loiacono (lead guitar), Will Escher (rhythm guitar), Austin Dunn (bass, vocals), and Connor Lung (drums). Guest vocalist Tyler Bush (of TEN DAYS NEW) appears on "Echoes of an Empire".

Interview:(very deep subject matter given her age)

o?  I guess im far enough out of the loop on recent music that I do not know what emo music is. I take it for "emotional"?

on first listen I was into the guitar I didnt really pay attention to the lyrics. I thought the interview was interesting given the subject matter vs her age.

Usually I wouldnt even give somehting like this a spin...but given who her dad is/was.

Yeah, Emo is a like an emotional, whiny, pop-rock music. Very much targeted to the commercialized, modern "light hearted" goth movement, which has no correlation to the traditional goth of 20-30 years ago.

The music is terrible, and like you I would've given it a chance because I love and respect the Allman Brothers and Gregg Allman.

And yeah Saikin, that album cover is horrible. Looks like a poor man's Disney emo.

That's because a lot of good music came out of that back in the day.

Yeah Robert Smith probably wants to shoot himself in the head when he sees what's called "goth" today.

Robert Smith wants to shoot himself when people refer to The Cure as goth. He hated that tag and still does. I see his point. A band singing songs like Close to Me, In between Days, Just Like Heaven, Friday I'm in Love is not a Goth band but on the flip side their first three albums did absolutely nothing to discourage people from labelling them that. Not to mention the bands image 14  But yeah Robert Smith isn't the guy that's gonna stand up for true goth because he hates being labelled that.
