Is just fucking laughable.
Yeah that gave me a chuckle as well. Made me feel like I was reliving 2005 again.
I interpret it as a tounge in cheek comment. No one can be that silly.

It is mentioned in several articals and reviews. I see it as a running joke.
As far as the "purple prose" writtter of the belfast review. a guy on the Bumblefoot forum claims it. He says he was flowing with expression after seeing the band. I figured he was tripping on X. IM glad he wrote it in answer to the media review.
His bumbleforum post :
NewGNRnOldGNR
"There you go my man. I typed this piece up literally straight after the gig. I didn't really reserve much thought for the layout of my text given I was just flowing with expression after such a momentus performance.

I don't think it's right to bash a guy who wrote something in accordance with DJ's birthday. He may say a lot of silly things, but he took the time to do it, and it's well written. There's no point in beating him down for showing his support for something he truly believes in.
In fact, it's more dumb to trash it than to write it.

Its not well written and its made up of silly, dumb statements, so its fair game. Only saving grace is if its written by a 15 year old kid, then it doesnt seem quite so naive. Why make a thread about it anyway if getting feedback isnt welcome?

This. DCK it's not well-written. Using your main argument by discrediting the past members is Lowest Common Denominator.
It actually makes his weak-ass writing glaring, because instead of arguing DJ's merits and the 2009-present GNR's merits, he basically just says "anything that came before is stupid, and if you disagree with me you just don't get it".
Well that says absolutely nothing. And the kid (if he is) only uses that argument because he actually has NOTHING to use in DJ's favor with GN'R to prove that he's superior to Slash, Robin and/or Bucket.
If you're gonna make a bold, and frankly stupid statement like that, at least wait around until the guy actually records something as Guns N' Roses, then hold it up to the past. Or compare "Ballad of Death" to "Chicken Chunks" or some other guitarist solo. Something.

I do not get out of his writing that he is bashing slash. it reads to me that he likes this lineup better because its more rock and basic like the afd uyi lineup.
He does not mention robin or bucket specifically. But he states that GnR chose the wrong direction post Old guns
In the end it reads like a thank you card to Dj for helping put the band back in the direction some fans wanted.

That's basically how I read it too. I didn't view it as an outward slam to past members as others have suggested. It's all how you choose to view it I guess.
