Guns N' Roses will play whatever cities in whatever venues they want to. I wish they'd do a theater tour, but they won't.

true. I honestly believe it's an ego thing on Axl's part.  But a sold out venue of 5000 is so much better than a show of 8000 in a  20 000 seat venue. That in my opinion just looks and feels pathetic. Nothing worse than seeing empty seats everywhere. People will say it doesn't matter but the fact is it makes a big difference in atmopshere.

of course it does..the sound is ten times better in a theatre. I still think they should do a mix of venues. Some theatres, some arenas-depending on the city. However, a lot of that has to do with the promoter as well.

I would love to see GNR closer to central Wisconsin though. there's a few good small venues around here, one up in Wausau, Eau Claire, and in Madison.

For what it's worth, from Axl's chats.

I've been an after midnight type since I was sneakin' out of my house  in Jr. High. With old Guns we preferred 12am or so. When we moved to  theaters etc obviously that changes but it's never changed inside me.  Doesn't matter what I do so generally that's when I'm more myself.  This isn't to mess with anyone that has an early schedule to keep it's  just personal preference.
And in regard to the size venues I'm on record as preferring what ever  venues allow for our schedule but management and promoters can do  a lot in their own interests behind the scenes that can rarely be  avoided and their greed or whatever leads to a lot of double talk and  ugly behind nonsense that generally eventually ruins things for  everyone. Translated once a tour is scheduled however it's like  parting the seas to change.
As far as being late, I've been that way my whole life. It drove Izzy  crazy but he would check himself and freely admit I was generally  actually doing something that had to get done rather than watching  basketball etc.

I appreciate you posting it faldor but It ain't worth much. Honestly if Axl wanted to tour sold out arenas he'd just say "Book us an arena tour" end of.  And as if we're supposed to believe he's doing important things that need to get done before he goes on stage. What load of crap. Like what paying his bills and doing his taxes?  roll

Somedays I think he's full of crap, and others I think he's totally truthful. I try to imagine my life, but with GN'R involved, and my balls hurt. For the majority of my life i've had to bust my ass doing other people's jobs and going behind people to make sure shit works and goes off correctly, without reward or benefit, and usually a mediocre result.

If Axl deals with just 1/10th of what I deal with, and he's got alot bigger fish to fry, I can see his point of view on it, and it's not so much that Axl's got alot of work to do, he's just so busy correcting everyone's mistakes that it bogs every fuckin' thing down.

BUT by this stage w/all his power n clout axl should have a team in place where he isn't having to correct everyone else's mistakes. OR he should be doing that particular work himself OR be much more involved in everything that's going on..

he should do this & that & the other things much better than he does them..
says me who tries to do as little as possible with the least amount of effort..

If they do a US tour they should do it in style and do what Slash just did. Small venues and rock the shit out of them.

That would be a smart move - rather than play to half full arenas, play a two or three week tour of smaller theaters that are guaranteed to sell out, then blow the lid off the place. Word of mouth will ramp up demand and then they can come back through a few months later and play the larger venues again.

Even smarter would be if they actually had a new album out to promote.

playing 1000 seat small theatres like Slash played is ABSURD for a band that averaged 8000 a show on it's last two US tours. You pick your cities carefully (cities where you have a decent track record) and play a mix of large theatres and small arenas.

I would love to see Gnr play the Fox in Atlanta....4600 capacity, great acoustics, beautiful venue.

I think GN'R still has enough of an interest in the U.S. to do a full-blown mixture of the two.

I think bigger cities like Chicago, NYC or LA should see them doing arenas (and they'll probably sell out too, or close to it), and the smaller, but bigger cities should have theater shows.

I think it would expand dates, and also be very profitable. That combo could see them do several U.S. dates, and yet remain very profitable. That way GN'R could tour the U.S. with an amount of dates similar to their European tour.
