Re: SLASH 'Not Too Pleased' With AXL ROSE Parody On 'Die Oliver Pocher Sho

Legendary guitarist Slash was a guest on last night's (Friday, November 5) edition of "Die Oliver Pocher Show", a German late-night talk show hosted by comedian Oliver Pocher. During the interview, Pocher surprised Slash by showing him a five-minute parody video featuring a German actor playing the role of GUNS N' ROSES lead singer Axl Rose who was taking his dog, named Slash, out for a walk. The VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES guitarist, who was visibly unamused to see the clip, later tweeted, "Good times in Cologne. Only I wasn't too pleased with the Axl parody on 'Oliver Pocher Show'. That wasn't too cool."
Slash's appearance on "Die Oliver Pocher Show" can be viewed below. (Note: The above-mentioned Axl Rose parody clip can be seen starting around the 5:50 mark.)

Slash told a New York City radio program on October 29 that GUNS N' ROSES would "have to do things way differently than we did" back in their early Nineties heyday if the original lineup was to ever reunite. Slash explained, "It seems like it would be a lot of fun to do, just go back out there, and it seems like a relatively simple idea and there's a ton of fans out there that would love to see it. It'd be cool. But we'd have to do things way differently than we did in '91, '92, '93 and whatever . . . And I don't think that's changeable. That whole production would have to tighten up and be like a real working band, and I don't think that's salvageable."
Slash added that any reunion would depend on singer Axl Rose's willingness to do it, saying, "I know everybody's around, but there has been no conversation, like, 'Let's get the band back together.' If everybody wanted to do it and it was very clear amongst us, (it) means we would have to clean up some personal stuff, which we haven't even begun that."
Slash's comments on the radio show were sparked by bassist Duff McKagan's recent appearance with GUNS N' ROSES — his first in 17 years — during a London gig by the band, at which he played on five songs.
Slash said about Duff's appearance, "It was cool . . . he just sort of kept me posted through the day and at one point he said he was going down to the venue with Axl. And I was, like, 'Wow!' 'Cause a lot of years have gone by."
Although Axl seems to have good relations with McKagan and former guitarist Izzy Stradlin, Slash explained why he thinks Axl still does not want to associate with him. "I think there's some deep-seated stuff there," he said. "And it really can only come down to what was going on at the time when I finally said, 'I've gotta go.' And I think there was a certain sense of abandonment there."
Re: SLASH 'Not Too Pleased' With AXL ROSE Parody On 'Die Oliver Pocher Sho
I couldn't understand what they were saying in that parody, due to the fact that I don't speak German. And I'm guessing it was the same for Slash. In fairness to the show, maybe it was funnier if you knew what was going on. It seemed like a humorous concept, typical of shows like that. It was kind of annoying the guy playing Axl talked in that helium like voice the whole time. Anyone who knows Axl knows his speaking voice is quite deep. I guess they weren't going for accuracy though.
Re: SLASH 'Not Too Pleased' With AXL ROSE Parody On 'Die Oliver Pocher Sho
yeah even though I can't speak german that skit didn't look all that funny and it is kind lame that they'd try to mock Axl in Slash's presence as if he'd be cool with it. It's just stupid. I understand asking questions but that was lame.

It's also mocking slash - i mean he was a dog!!
And yeah, Axl's kinda an easy target for pot shots but he's contributed more to popular culture than these goons ever will.
I guess they were trying to be funny but it looked pretty lame to me.
The question about GNR was retarded too.
Good to see Slash stand up for axl though. I mean just cos they don't wanna roll together anymore, they went through some shit together in the past. It would be nice if they became friends again at least.

Being a comedy type of show I guess you would expect them to do something like this. But shit if you are going to, at least make it funny. Like most others I don't speak German but for anyone that does please tell us if it was just as unfunny as it appeared?
I still reckon the funniest interview ever was the one when they came to Australia in 1993 and Norman Gunston asked questions. I've got it on DVD here but not sure how to upload to youtube and never seen it on there. That's some classic comedy, Slash and Duff were laughing and didn't know what to do other than laugh and give him props for the questions.
