Re: Bucket's Captain's Eo's Voyage
This is a new iTunes only album for now.
I can see you guys rolling your eyes, but this is the real deal. Not the crap he's put out all of this year and last. This is Vintage, masterful Buckethead. Think of a cross between Colma and Population Override. That's my best explanation.
It sounds spacey and new agey like Colma, but got the live drum feel of PO, not the hip-hopish beats of Colma.
It's really fantastic and obviously inspired by Michael Jackson. I don't think it's any coincidence his best work of the past three or four years has been the MJ inspired stuff.
Can't say enough good stuff about it. Track 1, the title track, sounds a lot like The Edge throughout. Someone will have to back me up on that, but a lot of those quivering, short notes with a very similar tone as, I can't place it, perhaps New Year's Day.
And the solo alone on Siphoning Sequence had me grinning and laughing it is so fucking good. It's one of those solos you don't want to end, like TWAT. I've listened to it three times in about 15 minutes.
The drums also are top notch. Not sure if they are programmed, they could be, but if they are, it is the best programmed drums Bucket has perhaps ever used. Like I said, they sound live, not recorded and looped.
Really, really solid CD. To top it off, the production is light years ahead of the other stuff he's released this year. No more sounding like he recorded in his bathroom.
Bucket has restored my faith in his ability. Just in time. I was about to jump off the bandwagon.
