Guns N' Roses Guitarist Slash is Now Producing Horror Films

Following in the footsteps of musician turned filmmaker Rob Zombie, Deadline reports legendary guitarist Slash from Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver is starting his own production company. In association with Scout Productions (of films like Transsiberian and Fog of War), Slash has set up the aptly named Slasher Films banner to produce edgy contemporary horror fare with a nod to the thrillers of the 70's and 80's. Their first project has already been lined up with Nothing to Fear, a horror/thriller following a family as it looks for a big change by moving to a small town in rural Kansas only to encounter an ancient demon with an insatiable blood lust.

Jonathan W.C. Mills wrote the screenplay which should begin shooting early next year, but a director hasn't been revealed just yet. Here's what Slash had to say about his new endeavor, "I've always been a huge horror fan and creating films that take you back to the days where horror movies actually scared the hell out of you is something I've always wanted to do. My audience is made up of young, edgy, discerning consumers, with an appetite for quality and a hint of anarchy." That's what way to put it, I guess. Though I'm not a fan of the horror genre, I've found some decent throwback horror flicks like House of the Devil to be quite good. It'll be interesting to see if Slash can bring together the right talent for some fresh horror.

So like Axl, he's probably financing films of friends now, and getting a 'producer' credit.

If he does go full-bore in to it, posssibly even direction, I hope to God his films are better than Rob Zombie's. Zombie's only bright spot was House of a 1,000 Corpses and it's sequel The Devil's Rejects. His recent directorial works have been some of the most godawful pieces of trash.
