I don't think Slash is saying anything privately.  I think he's saying that when asked about it.  Axl doesn't talk to anybody to get asked about it, so people assume Slash is begging for something he isn't because he answers questions about it.  I am fairly confident if nobody asked him about it, he wouldn't be saying anything about it.

Ehh, I dunno. I think he would, and I think it bugs him. 90% of his book was GN'R, and half of that 90 was bitching about what went down.

I think it truely irks him, and it probably won't ever be rectified until he's back in Guns.

and if you read the book he says that he has told it mostly from the GnR side of things because thats what everyone wants to know about and asks him about

from all appearances i would classify Slash as a guy that lives in the moment, i dont think much dwelling in the past or thinking about hte future plays into it, he does what he thinks is right at any given moment in time .. jsut my opinion doesnt mean it true

right now he's focusing on his solo stuff and trying to get the VR wheels movin again,

i'd say the fans are more centred on a reunion than the guys (aside from Adler 16 ) that used to be in the band

I'm with buzz on that one

Wow.  That's some spin.  Sometimes I think some of the people here are on Axl's payroll with their active imaginations.

I think Slash is making more money than Axl is.  I think you're quite mistaken that he'd drop anything to play with Axl.  I think his expectation is that Axl will drop his diva antics to play with him or it won't happen.  THAT has been consistant.

roll What spin? Tell me where I said anything that wasn't true.

And where did I say anything about how much money Slash makes or him needing money, or him begging? That's shit you're spinning, dude. It was my own opinion that Slash would want to work with Axl and he's at a point in his life where he'd let Axl's ego have its way so they could play together again.

The thing is....

GNR was formed by the talents of five people who each brought something specific to the mix. In particualr, to the average music fan the distinctive parts are Slash's playing and Axl's voice. No other band really had those qualities the same way. They were five teenagers who got in shit load of trouble together, and ended up forming one of the greatest bands in the world.

It's fine for the new guys to be employees. They joined one of the biggest bands (in terms of brand name) at the point where it was already sucessful, but the AFD crew are a significant part of the reason for that success. It's like this - it's fine for you to join microsoft now as an employee - you are walking into a huge deal - but if you had co-founded the bastard and used to be a full partner, would you want to be an employee still?

Izzy has basicly said he quit because he was told he was now an employee of something he helped create. The 'creative' issues between slash and Axl i think are founded in the same business, that slash thinks Axl doesn't show respect to his input - bringing in extra guitars etc.

Bottom line is I think Axl is the best vocalist in the world, and so I'll strongly support his bands and buy his products, and I can understand he may have felt a need to gain control given the drug use in the band, and his own turbulent past. However, while I'll always support his musical endevors, on a basic level converting the guys who created the band with you, and who, at least in some cases provide input that truely can not be replicated, is just not justifiable.

Duff will come back to play with Axl for the memories, for the friendship and the goodtime. So will Izzy, and if Axl forgives him, maybe Slash. But why the fuck would any of them come back full time to GNR as an employee? It's like being asked to rent your own house. They built GNR with Axl. They are GNR. On a deep level everyone knows this - hell - the respect shown to duff by tommy and so on isn't because he's some old friend of Axls - it's because guns and roses runs in duff's blood, and everyone who isn't lying to themselves should be able to see that.

Great post Monkeychow...  Tommy has said before he would get out of the way for a reunion, the band knows the power of Slash, Duff, Izzy, etc..  Axl is really getting too hold for this shit, it would be nice for him to end his career on top, with his current band, he will just fade away, with reunion GNR, he would go out with a bang.

Remember i guess it was the Del James interview rant where he said a reunion wouldnt happened and thats been reiterated by one man over the past however many years..

kinda sounded to me like Slash was the reason we didn't have a reunion. I almost think Axl would do it on his terms with the old guys employees kinda like how the new guys are but Slash wouldn't come back unless he got his piece of GNR back and once he wanted that, the other guys followed suit THUS he being a cancer.

Im sure if you asked Tommy today, he wouldn't even remember saying it. We treat these comments like some kind of truth, but these people blabber on whenever and forgets all about it. Some hardly remember what songs they did live or not 10 years ago. Not saying he won't agree to it again, just saying there's no need to push the sentence as the groundbase of all arguments.
