Re: VR Releasing Live DVD Next Month
STP is on hold..Scott is back in rehab!
Scott was never in rehab. Scott was taking care of some personal issues. STP are back to touring. Though he's talked about taking a break after this tour and the band doesn't know if they're going to go record now. The future of them seems uncertain.
Maybe he'll wind up back in VR.
Despite what people say about him, there's a reason Slash, Duff, Dave and Matt all picked him as their singer. They auditioned tons of people prior and post Scott and he's the only one they've picked. Besides Myles, pretty sure they'd hire him on.
Re: VR Releasing Live DVD Next Month
I heard a radio interview with Scott the other day. He was fucked up live. He's in bad shape again, I don't see Scott in VR, he's probably done with STP for awhile.

I hate it when music dvds do that. Just let me watch the show and put the interviews in the special features menu.
I have an Aerosmith dvd where they do that, and members of Aerosmith "post" the song like a radio dj. (talking over the musical intro until the lyrics start)
Drives me fucking nuts.
I fucking hate that too. There's ZERO point in it. Only a grandma would need some kind of shit feature like that.
That was prior to his short 'recovery.' He now appears to be sober, has lost weight and is sounding better with STP live again.
Re: VR Releasing Live DVD Next Month
Tbh, i'm kinda shocked they're rehashing anything from the Scott-era.
I think it's pretty odd as well but they are probably doing this just to get the VR name back on the public radar again. If they had at least one more album we'd probably be seeing a GH cd instead of this DVD.

Why not release footage of the last tour though? Why go back to 05, they've released and toured behind another album since then, surely that would have made for a more appealing package? It's like GNR releasing a DVD of a live show from 01/02/06, it's just not really relevant anymore.

Re: VR Releasing Live DVD Next Month
I see no logical reason to release 5-year-old footage with a singer who's long gone. It's really stupid. Don't market a new era with a really old product. I don't even know who'll buy it.

Exactly...and the thing is I really think the second tour shows were a lot better. Dunno if it was drugs or what but slash didnt seem to be as on fire as he is normally on the contrband tour, but by libertad he was back in the game I think.
I will buy it cos I like VR, but it's a shame not to have some of the newer songs too.

Forgive me for assuming! Rehab seems par for events and is a private thing unless its leaked. Or the celeb admits to it after the fact.

Robert DeLeo, the bassist of the Stone Temple Pilots, is urging the band’s frontman Scott Weiland to seek help for his drug addiction. Read more on Scott Weiland’s relapse below.
Weiland, who has previously battled alcohol and drugs, suffered a heroin relapse in late 2007, but said he kicked his addictions.
Weiland stated, “Heroin made me feel all right in my own skin. Before I did it I was uncomfortable going into crowds, which is interesting given my profession. But when I did dope, the fear went away. That’s why I hung on to it so long. But my kids fill up that hole now.”
But Weiland’s bandmate Robert DeLeo says he worries about his friend after he showed up two hours late for a recent photoshoot and interview with Spin magazine. Weiland asked for four glasses of whiskey when he arrived.
DeLeo told Spin magazine, “He can’t got on tour. He needs help… He thinks he’s clean just because he’s not shooting heroin. But he’s popping pills.”

In September 2010, STP announced it was rescheduling several U.S. tour dates so that the band could take a "short break." This announcement comes a few days after Weiland said the following at a show in Houston, Texas: "I started drinking again. My brother died, I got divorced (from) my wife, and my whole world basically spun around. So you know what? I'm going to take care of myself because that's what I need to take care of. Instead of just having a few shows, I want to have a whole hell of a lot of shows."[12]

Dude, he was gone for like a week or two. Rehab doesn't go that quick.

A performance clip of the song "Slither" — taken from VELVET REVOLVER's forthcoming DVD, "Live In Houston" — can be viewed below. Due on November 16 via Eagle Vision, the set was filmed in Houston, Texas in 2005 during the tour in support of the band's debut album, "Contraband". The full-length live tracks are intercut with snippets of interview with the various bandmembers talking about how VELVET REVOLVER came into being. The setlist, naturally, focuses on that debut release but is complemented by two tracks from the GUNS N' ROSES catalog and two songs from STONE TEMPLE PILOTS debut album, highlighting the history of the VR bandmembers.
An e-card for "Live In Houston" is available at this location.

VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash told BostonHerald.com in September that his touring vocalist, Myles Kennedy, will not take the job of the band's new lead singer. Kennedy returned to his band ALTER BRIDGE in October, while Slash is taking the remaining months of 2010 to work on new music and go through audition tapes. VELVET REVOLVER has been dormant since April 2008, when the band dismissed original frontman Scott Weiland.
Slash told The Pulse of Radio that the band's status hasn't changed since. "Everybody asks the same question: 'Where are you with that?'" he said. "It's really, we're nowhere until we can find somebody who can do that job. Very quietly I've had my ears to the pavement, trying to see if there's anybody that fits that bill, and it's got to be somebody really good, 'cause I don't want to rush into it out of desperation. I want to wait 'til I get the right person."
As for the possibility of enlisting Kennedy, Slash told BostonHerald.com, "Kennedy is still committed to ALTER BRIDGE. I don't want to be the guy responsible for breaking up a band. But we'll find someone. Maybe not somebody known, but some kind of local hero."
Kennedy had actually been approached to sing for VELVET REVOLVER back in the early days of the group, and again after they parted ways with Weiland, but turned down the offer both times.
