There's no guarantee it was even them. Last time Axl did a club show like this in London, he couldn't finish the arena show the night after. As I'm going to see them on Monday night I say get yourself to bed and stay tucked up Axl

yep. defo like 2 see rest of tour prioritised over a club gig. the '06 schedule during the london shows was an error glad 2 see they've learned that lesson..

Jarmo says there's no show tonight. Another poster on HTGTH said Dingwalls website is saying "Guns n roses are not playing at dingwalls tonight" My mate has been down to the venue and says it looks really quiet, as in, no equipment being taken in and no one going in or out.

maybe axl n duff spent the night screaming & fightin w/each other after the gig that's why his throat is sore..

Yes because he sings a lot, I get it. Turn back to 2002 and you'll hear it after a no-singing period. It is quite known that he was in the process of fucking up his voice all togheter in 93.
I'm not saying he doesn't have a soar throat - I read the title. For people that don't know anything about vocals and rasp singing. Rasp singing is incredibly difficult to do without ruining your voice but to be able to sing like axl for as long as he has is rare and intentional on his part. to be honest axl does and has done so many things bad for his throat (i.e. smoking and drinking) that his singing technique may be flawless for all we know. but, yes, he has had surgeries to repair his instrument as well as the occasional sore throat, which comes with singing clean as well. My theory with the '02 axl is that he was trying to learn how to sing without rasp with the same range for the purpose of either maintaining his voice or for differing artistic direction. the problem with that might have been that once you sing with rasp sometimes you can't go back. so the rest of my theory goes that axl said "fuck it" just be yourself." I haven't seen the last show before the cancelled surprise gig, in which he supposedly sounded like his throat was bothering him so I'll take your word for it. but the increased rasp in his voice as the tour has gone on is intentional and he hasn't sung with as much power as he did with duff on stage since the last time duff was on stage with him. wow.

Rasp is developed over time and constant singing, combined with Axl doing his own personal techniques.
The reason 2002 Axl existed was Axl had spent so many years dormant singing that Axl could not duplicate the rasp without applying tons of force on his vocals to achieve it. Thus the reason for the high pitch because his throat was tight as an asshole.
It wasn't a conscious choice in 2002 to sound like that.
Thus the reason Axl's vocals has gradually gotten better and better since Rio III, and the reason today he sounds the best he's sounded since his hey day, and he will continue to improve until he hits a natural peak, and then declines because of age.
If Axl had maintained performing shows throughout the 90's, and/or performed mock concerts at his home to maintain his voice, he would've completely avoided the 2001/02 problem, because his vocals would've never gone cold.
Right now the reason Axl is able to achieve the raspy sound is because his vocals are looser versus 2002 which was caused by excessive tightness. Axl most likely had more sore throats due to singing in 2002 than any other year he's been a singer.
That's just my experience tho.

Not sure I buy that theory. I mean rio was what 2000 and then the 2002 tour was the same - that's two years in which he could have warmed it up. So even when finding it different in 2000 he did nothing until 02?
Then in 2006 when the band returned after 4 years without even a hint of a show the rasp was back - was he practising in secret those years. I dunno.
