Yeah...i'm not the biggest Dave fan - he's a bit too modern for me. I know he was a ring-in type guy - but I thought Gilby always did a stand up job of supporting slash musically.

Izzy would be gold...but not if he has to be singer. I'm happy for him to sing sometimes but he's voice just can't do the ranges needed for everything.

I didn't even notice that about the other new solo or not material. Damn damn...please make that be a slash/myles album or a hint that myles may come to VR.

Solo act is back in australia in feb/march as well....alterbridge album just came out here...myles is a busy guy!

Monk, I feel your problem is you're wanting VR to mimic GN'R in that stadium band appeal, i.e. the need a big singer/frontman.

I'm personally fine with the club band/underground thing. That's why i'd love to see VR go "four-man", and just be Izzy, Slash, Duff & Matt with Izzy & Duff sharing vocals.

I also feel it'd be a good F U to Axl.

to me the most interesting bit is about the european dates.  i saw slash at rock am ring this year and it was a great gig. unfortunately there were no german stand alone dates left when i returned home...

I'm not fussed about the popularity side of it, although obviously i'm happy for them if they're sucessful, it's more my personal tastes in vocals - I think slash's playing is damn well awesome and it really needs impressive vocal parts over the top to compliment it.

Like stockdale on the solo album, that high bit in the middle of 'by the sword' just adds something. Or like Axl does with GNR. I just find a vocalist like scott or izzy a bit bland cos their range is quite limited in terms of notes that they can choose to add to the song.

Cornell would be awesome, but that's not going to happen with SG active, and I guess he's already done a superband thing once. But someone like that who can hit those notes with that sort of intensity.

Myles is close cos he has the range, although he doesnt do it with the anger of a baz or axl...but anyways....thats the sort of sound that makes me go "damn" when i'm singing along in the shower or car...and it's more abotu that for me than wanting to fill big rooms or anything.
