Yeah I looked at that and thought something similar. I would like to see proshot footage of new stuff, old stuff etc etc. There must be a mountain of material.
Plus there are other songs other than KOHD that I would have like to have seen proshot from that gig too. Hopefully we'll see some more.

Fuck fuck fuck that's some good shit on these vids...only had a chance to watch you're crazy so far...but Axl sounds great!! I too wish we could buy some proshot live footage of the modern era - i'd do it in seconds.

Where does all this great footage come from and why don't we ever have the chance to purchase it? Sometimes I wish GNR were more whorish with their stuff like Kiss. Well, maybe not quite like that, but you know what I mean. Over the last 16 years we've gotten one album of original material, 3 DVD's, a Greatest Hits CD, a double disc Live CD. Am I missing anything? I'm willing to spend some money on this band if given the chance.
Agreed. Why not pull the finger out and release some form of box set. Do a 2002 show, 2006 show, 2010 show and an acoustic show and put it all togheter in a set. Or, if one to please, just of the current era. It doesn't matter, I wanna spend some money on this band too.

Agreed. Why not pull the finger out and release some form of box set. Do a 2002 show, 2006 show, 2010 show and an acoustic show and put it all togheter in a set.
Because there's no incentive to do it. Only a thousand nerds would give two shits about the revolving door, and less than half of them would even bother buying it. Releasing something like that would be a colossal failure. He really only has two legitimate options regarding a box set....

That's why I wish Axl could go independent from labels.
Put up a website...just make like 1000 copies - have like a numbered box with a pro-shot live peformance and t-shirt or poster or something, and flog them off at some sort of mark up. Wouldn't cost much to do, and the hardcors would gladly pay it - while you havn't lost any face with the rest of the media or buying public who could just ignore it. You'd make a tidy little profit on the box (given they already film all the shows i'm told anyway) and you'd re-connect and maintain the hardcores. would be win-win.

yea def there's a lotta 'smaller' bands do limited/signed/numbered releases thru their own website it would be easy enough 4 GnR - well maybe not GnR but a band who can get things done - to produce a(nother) low-key release. & it helps fans/undercuts bootleggers..

I'm not gonna pretend to know anything about this...
But I would imagine the thought have crossed the GNR-camp more than once. But thing is, GNR are under contract and I guess that would mean that anything GNR wants to release, either physical or digital has to go via Universal.
And I would think that in order to go independent, Axl would have to buy is way out of the contract. And I'll bet we're talking a LOT of money. Money even Axl don't have.
Remember the making of November Rain. Axl talked about buying the video from the band/label and put it in storage. He said that would have put him "fucking flat broke, prolly ending up owing money..."
And that was just one video....
If GNR wanted to release some proshot material from a show. That would include many songs from the back catalogue, and would prolly mean that ex-members would have to give the green light for the release. Prolly not the easiest thing in the world to negotiate!
And then you could argue, "Hell, just release a show on bluray with all new material!"
Then the label would prolly say: "What?! C'mon Axl... You can't possibly think that we're gonna release a live Guns N' Roses show without SCOM, WTTJ, PC. Get a grip man!!"
Just because Axl owns the GNR name, doesn't mean he can release whatever he sees fit. I think....
Thinking about this makes me wanna know stuff about GNR's contract with Universal. How many albums? Timeframe etc etc...
Would kinda give us a hint on when to start expecting some ccol releases!

This. Axl also seems to sign contracts for exclusivity whenever he needs front money. I.e., Best Buy deal, the original deal with Geffen for CD, MLB.com for the website, etc.
He's probably got so many contracts where he doesn't even own what's actually in the GN'R vault. He can't move without their approval.
And considering the fact that it's pretty obvious at this point that the American music industry has blacklisted his GN'R in an effort to try and force him to get the real one back, we're all screwed.
The fanboys want the vault more than anything, I think Axl isn't totally opposed, but he has no leg room to do it, and probably never will.
The only way we ever hear this stuff is if someone liberates it.
