I'd love to check out Fright Night and/or Poltergeist if you've got them handy.

I just decided to give the Fright Night remake script another shot and man, I love it! I had to stop reading at 22 pages so I won't ruin seeing it. Very different from the original. Totally new take. It's exactly what a remake should be.  Can't wait to see it. Hopefully I can hold out for it and not read the rest of the script.

I get your point but does Fright Night really need a new take? In this instance I wouldn't mind it sticking to the original concept.

You know, I thought that same thing and it might be one of the reasons I disliked it at first. Brewster is a totally different character and so is Evil Ed, and so is their relationship. But once I got into the story (before I stopped) I was totally sucked in. It won me over. I hadn't even got to Peter Vincent being introduced yet.

The foundation is the same: Vampire living next door to a teenager and his single mom. But that's about where it ends. You know Jerry is a vampire right away. The neighbors are disappearing. And he's trying his slyly best to get Brewster and his mother to invite him in their home. Instead of like in the original where his mom lets Jerry in the house right away. It's a nice cat and mouse game.

And I just found out that the original Evil Ed became a gay porn star. WTF?? He was one of my favorite 80's characters too.
