Re: STP postpone US tour
Scott Weiland Causes Tour Suspension - Stone Temple Pilots Upset at Outburst?
ABC News states that during the Sunday stop for the Stone Temple Pilots' tour, Scott Weiland took to the stage and said, "The 8th of December will be the time when I stopped doing dope."
When the audience began to cheer for Weiland, he said, "No, no, no, no, I started drinking again. My brother died, I got divorced (from) my wife, and my whole world basically spun around. So you know what?
I'm going to take care of myself because that's what I need to take care of. Instead of just having a few shows, I want to have a whole hell of a lot of shows."
RobotCeleb.com states that Scott Weiland's speech was slurred at the time of his rant and that the Stone Temple Pilots had showed up an hour late for their gig. There are also claims from audience members that Weiland was poorly lip syncing his own songs.
Billboard.com reports that Scott Weiland has long battled his vices and it appears he may be losing that battle once again. The Stone Temple Pilots' tour will be postponed until the 8th of October, a month before Weiland claims to get off of dope.
Hopefully, the Stone Temple Pilots are putting a pause to their tour so that they can get Scott Weiland so much needed help. Scott is obviously suffering through a distraught time in his life. For him to divulge such private information in such a public way is more indicative of the fragile state Weiland's mind is in.
Re: STP postpone US tour
Why can't he do dope and still do fucking shows? Just curious. It's never ending with this guy. He gets more press for rehab, then when he's sober and the heat dies, suddenly he picks up a habit again to give up. Seems recurring over and over.
Re: STP postpone US tour
Ah okay. I mean it is sad, don't get me wrong. But I thought he was still functioning. It's like that with alot of junkies - the world moves on. With Weiland, it holds him back from gaining any sort of momentum with whatever he's doing.
I just figured he could keep the dope, and still work. But if he wakes up in the morning, and all he wants to do is shoot up and fuck off to everything else, well then I guess everything comes to a screeching halt.
Re: STP postpone US tour
I can't feel sorry for this guy anymore. He may be off heroine, but alcohol is obviously just as detrimental to him as that was. He's got 2 kids, and an (now) ex-wife and his current love interest looks like trash. If he had kept it together before maybe he'd still have a good family, and be in a good band, possibly even capable of putting out great music again.
Instead he's another washed up alcoholic in his 40's who seems to be fully incapable of putting out anything great anymore, instead it's all sub-par, and the concerts are even worse.
The rest of the guys in STP should fire him and find someone else. Or just work behind the scenes like they all enjoy.

Re: STP postpone US tour
Sad news.
To be honest I've been expecting this since he left VR. He was clearly loosing control back then and starting to use, and with someone with his history there's no casual usage.
I'm not a huge fan but he's written some good songs that's for sure. I wish him well and hope he can clean up again and get his life back on track.

I feel bad for his family the most. I can't stand guys like that. They fuck up every aspect of their life, they have a wife who loves them and two children, they have everything to live for, but no... they gotta have it their way.
Irritates me

I feel sorry for his kids, yes. Him, I do not. He's brought this on himself. Anyone who knows even a small amount of Scott's past abuse history would know that. He's been in rehab over 30 times. Pretty sure that's more than Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton put together.
I feel sorry for the band as well. STP had a chance of actually running good now, but of course, Scott fucked up once again. It'd be a miracle if they stay together.

But that's why it's an addiction. If it made any rational sense it wouldn't be.
