Re: Roger Waters Discussion (NEW ATD vinyl coming!)
Weird, wonder if this is what it feels like to some when they see new GNR?
The media sometimes bash GNR saying theres no chemistry with the new guys, which is BS. This is a real example of zero chemistry.
Roger should be playing his bass at least, it doesnt look or feel right seeing him just wandering around.
Re: Roger Waters Discussion (NEW ATD vinyl coming!)
I'm glad you're all in to this, and I hope you have an awesome time. I saw him on his Amused to Death tour, and it was pretty cool (shrooms helped of course.) But these videos look lifeless to me. I'm a huge fan, so it's not that- but this has zero energy, and he even tries to recreate some seminal moments from The Wall (ie. not-Gilmour soloing from the top of the wall), and it just comes off as "meh".
Like I said, I love Waters and Floyd in general- I spent most of my high school years being very anti-Gilmour led Floyd (also check out some of Richard Wright's solo stuff), but this looks a little weak to me.
Re: Roger Waters Discussion (NEW ATD vinyl coming!)
Sorry- didn't mean to name the tour, I don't know what it was called. Amused to Death was the last album he had released at the time. It was probably 95ish? Does that sound right?
The stage was set up like a living room if that helps.
Re: Roger Waters Discussion (NEW ATD vinyl coming!)
There was no Amused To Death Tour. Are you talking about the In The Flesh? Tour that started near the end of 90s? I saw a couple of those shows and thought they were amazing.
I guess I'm just seeing something here you guys aren't or doesn't impress you. While the actual production and all of that is sweet, I just love the emotion and passion that Roger puts into songs. Instead of just standing there singing, he gets his whole body into expressing the lyrical content.
He seems to be doing that to compensate for his age, and the lack of Pink Floyd.
I had a friend who had tix for one of these shows and they were so excited so much to the point I thought about going, but I just think what i'm seeing here is real PBS-territory.
It's not grabbing me for whatever reason. I don't think it's the lack of Gilmour, I think it's the lack of Roger's youth.
