Agree with all above. Im happy DJ is there to fit, and Bumble can pull off the tech/ noodle stuff. I will be the first to admit Bucket with gnr was sometimes amazing tho it did take a while to get over his look.
As far as the image Robin had @ vma was a shock. I didnt feel any stage presence from HIm nor any interaction. He just didnt seem happy...ever. Bucket crossed over for me now i follow his older thing with primus and sometimes look for him live on youtube, Robin never made the cross over for me.
I would say i am a fan at this point from live footage of this tour, His material on Sixx AM, and the few live shows from past albums. His early solo record. I just hopes axl takes advantage of his talents before SiXXAM heads to the studio.

Robin in NIN never made me interested. Not because of Robin, but because I never liked Trent's music.
The youtube material for Vienna is kick ass. I've been looking at it for the last 30 minutes. It's really good, and really cool.

imo robin looked even more out of place than bucket, and that's achieving something... something not good. he never looked like he was in a rock n roll band, let alone the crazy one of gnr. in the couple of gnr shows i saw him, robin seemed like he'd have been more at home in some art college band (which kinda is what NiN are tbh)
$lashba defo has too many slashisms but does know how to work a crowd.
I agree. Granted I didn't get lucky enough to see the 2002 band live, but I did see them in 2006. Robin was completely forgettable. You hardly even knew he was there.
It was totally the Ron show. He had the stage prescence.

I disagree with that. There's been some odd appearances in Gn'R over the years but in 2006 Robin's presence on stage actually really pissed me off. It was so annoying to watch him fake stumble around on stage like some drunken homless man. I've never had anything against the guy and to be honest I quite liked him but his stage presence in 2006 was so fucking annoying all 3 times I saw them that year.

I think Robin definately had presence...whether it was a good or a bad one depended on your perspective - but he does have quite unusual manerisms while playing - call it drunken, call it fake or whatever but I'll grant him that he didn't hide up the back or anything.
After he quit GNR i saw him live in NIN and I must say I honestly thought his stage persona suited that band better. He seemed cool doing what he does in NIN, and more into it but in GNR it always felt like he was not quite right.
As for DJ he's doing what we wanted. Most people hated robin for not being classic rock enough and playing the songs wrong and so on. DJ's out there using moves at home on slash, aerosmith, or any classic rock act, he dresses like an LA rocker and he's playing the parts with a blues
rock focus and pretty accurately to the CD. In the absence of slash...it's hard to ask for much else.
I guess it comes down to one's personal prefrence:
Is someone who copies slash, but who clearly is not slash, better or worse than someone who also isn't slash but had no respect for what slash used to do?

I actually like the fact that DJ is more rock looking and he really makes an effort to get into the songs and work the crowd. The negative for me is he appears to come accross too "Slash like" at times. I'm sure it's probably unintional on his part, but given the band he is in and the strong responses that issue can elicit in fans, I personally would be more careful of that sort of thing. JMO

So what is the correct procedure? Robin was too little Slash, DJ is too much Slash. So what would it be? That is, if it's not Slash.
