Looks great, and it certainly has name power behind it. I enjoyed throwback crime dramas like Crime Story... might give this a look.

They have advertised this show over a year.  I have watched the thing three times now. Has a nice mix of daytime TV drama, comedy, plenty of closeup kills, new mob boss meetings, And names everyone should know.

For me the main character (Steve Buscemi) IS the rough neck Rig hand that goes crazy in space in Armageddon. And gangster Jimmy Darmody (Michael Pitt) IS one of the kid killers in Sandra Bullocks movie Murder By Numbers. Both movies I really like. Hopefully with a few more weeks of character development I will be able to over look the type or character cast I have for these two.

To me so far the sex/ nudity scenes are not "hot" on purpose.(See the AfroBush in the corners office) They have mixed a bit of comedy into them. There is also to many sub plots started to soon. I will likely give it 4 or 5 weeks to decide if I am a fan.

Watched one of the reruns. I say - bring on the second episode.

Highly addictive. I can see this show flourishing into something special. I thought the Pilot was great, and very promising.

To me it was like a cross between The Sopranos, Deadwood, The Untouchables, and the DeNiro stuff in Godfather Part II.

enjoyed it. plots were a bit boring & cliched but scorsese knocked it outta the park, a lot of great violence & some funny stuff. doubt it'll top sopranos/deadwood, though a lot of people involved worked on both shows.. it did seem a bit like it was a massive budget not matched by a superb story - it's more like costner's the untouchables than the sopranosfor instance but we're only at the pilot so hopefully it improves

After 7 episodes it's already getting close to topping Sopranos and Deadwood. The show is incredible in every way. Music, photography, characters, acting, script. Just a real solid package. It may lack the enigmatic lead character of Swearengen and Tony, but over all I think it's a much tighter show. Whereas in the other shows there could be some dull moments with the smaller characters, in Boardwalk Empire even the bit parts are engaging and fleshed out.

The Sopranos writers seem to have blossomed, and this show might end up being the pinnacle of their career. Michael Pitt is going to explode after this, such a great actor, such a screen presence, and the looks to land big Hollywood leads.

Check it out if you haven't already, this is history in the making. Be aware though it make take a few episodes to get into, cause it definitely doesn't underestimate the viewer.
