I think Del himself admitted that he's basically their transportation coordinator and sometimes driver from show to show.
That's "road manager".
I don't know Del but that is pretty much what a road manager does, goes along on the tour and makes sure that everything that needs to happen happens, that is, tansportation, food, sleep, buidling and dismantling of the set, all the logistics of it all.

It's a very hard job, think of how stressful travel is anyway, then imagine doing it on a massive scale, with famous people who attract attention from media/fans, musician types who can be tempremental, tons of gear, a bunch of crew and if you dont make a city on schedule all hell breaks loose.
