Re: Stinson Vents at Del James During Dublin Concert
This circus is hilariously entertaining.
Well, that's why I'm here. And that's also why I'm not discussing Slash and Miles Kennedy. Nothing can be compared to this circus. It hilariously entertaining, but also all the other types of entertainment, and I hope it will stay. I don't want more 2004, 2005 with nothing. This is what fuels a forum. Some band with some singer who never does shit, it's not good discussion topic.
Re: Stinson Vents at Del James During Dublin Concert
No doubt he still likes to talk about Axl any chance he gets.
mick wall likes to talk about himself any chance he gets.
If you think about it, very little from the whole saga makes sense. The wait for the album, the way band members have gone, the silences, the dramas. All of us 'armchair quaterbacks' can identify how unusual the band is, and how many 'mistakes' they could be said to have made, and most of us arn't even in the industry. The sum of all this 'evidence' to me - goes beyond just "Axl must be a fuckhead" - it just doesn't make sense that way - it has to be that the same brain that gives him amazing artistic and musical talents - also makes him sensitve and he just isn't able to peform for us on tap. I think his skills came at a price, and that price is that he needs to do things his own way in his own time in order to have enough piece of mind to function.
So I guess while I agree that half of what goes on is fucked up, I also think Axl's amazing on a musical level, and to cope with what goes on in his world, and so no matter how much gets fucked, I'll always be supporting the band, and if that means waiting around for a few hours at a show, I'm good for it.
i tend to agree with a lot of what you're saying.
BUT the guy is nearly 50. he's been top dog in GnR for over 20 years now.
he's obviously blown a lot of money on yoda & other attempts at getting his shit together, and blown a lot of money on not being able to keep his shit together. @ some stage you have to wonder why he can't function on a relatively sedate, mundane level, no matter how irreparable his psychological make-up might be - i think a lot of it is due to the people he's surrounded himself with, their ineptitude, & there's also a point that courting such controversy does garner a lot of attention. obv it is also a lot to do with how fucked up his head is.
but by this stage he oughta have figured if the system he has in place isn't working for him he should change it - but since he hasn't changed it he must figure it is working for him. & these incidents are merely collateral damage on the way to keeping him functioning on whatever basic or normal level he lives on.
ftr i wouldn't have minded waiting in dublin except that axl & then two stewards told me to go home.
the fact he came on afterwards i think was the bigger let down than having him leave the show in the first place.
in terms of defeats it's a relatively minor one, but in the grand scheme of things i think it's very unlike axl & i don't know how well he will reconcile himself to such an incident. maybe he'll just brush it off, but my reading of his lyrics & history would suggest that he would be extremely uncomfortable at having been coaxed back on stage if he really wanted to leave.
in a sense he lost a lot of face & maybe even surrendered a bit of power to the rest of the band if they were a reason for his return to the stage in dublin. (i don't think it's quite that important an incident mind, & didn't he used to say he was willing to go back onstage in st louis? so my guess is he actually did go back on stage relatively happily as a means to Get Paid)
edit: but this is the 2nd gig in close proximity where a bandmember has been "having a go" at the management - bumble walked off at sturgis remember?
maybe things are changing.. tho with all the chances of changes before i seriously doubt it.

DCK wrote:So you are saying people spend money on tickets for a show just to protest against the line up?`
No.
They are throwing shit because they are assholes.
They boo because they have a point. He's always late.
This.
Anyone who thinks people are booing and throwing stuff because they want a reunion is really, really reaching.
Yeah, and people seem to think that fans would be okay with the late starts if there was a reunion. I don't think that's the case. I think they just want the show to start on time or at least close to it. Like DCK said, people aren't going to pay $100 for a ticket to a show they really don't want to see just so they can boo the band and let them know about it. That just doesn't make any sense.
I think we're actually further away from a reunion now then we were when Axl called Slash a cancer. I'm sure Slash, Duff, etc. aren't following this saga as closely as we are but they probably know the deal and want NO part of the craziness surrounding Axl.
Of course, money talks, but that'd be the ONLY reason for them to crawl back to Axl at this point.

I dont think a reunion is ever gonna happen. I dont even think an insane amount of money would change things either.. Axl is axl, and has always been and always will be..stubborn till the day he dies.. As for the other guys following this charade, I doubt it.... they have better things to do like make new music and get it out there and be out there with it..

Yeah, I don't think the other guys are following this either. But I'm sure they've either heard about the rough start to this tour OR they eventually will. Either way, I honestly don't think they'd want to put up with Axl's crap again. So I agree, and always have, a reunion is out of the question for the most part. Of course, you can never say never.

This difference is, Slash & Duff won't give a fuck that Axl's late. They got their own shit to deal with.
Not sure how the crowd would like it, but I could easily see those guys saying screw Axl, and performing as Guns N' Roses with Izzy & Duff, because Axl's 30 minutes late, and they won't have a single problem in the world doing it.
The problem with the new band, is they hold no cards. Short of maybe Tommy, these guys know that Axl calls all shots, because he's the boss. If they protest it, then they'll be replaced. So they don't shake the apple cart too much.
But even still with what i've said, there's so much drama surrounding Axl at any given moment, that's the reason I have huge doubts that a reunion will ever happen. Not because of money, not because of him performing with Slash, but because he's a fucking loon, and the new band is STARTING to tire of it, the old band was over it 20 fucking years ago. They'll have zero tolarance.
There's a good chance that bad boy will implode within a few shows.
