Re: Van Halen to record new album with Roth
In May 2010, in an interview with Glide Magazine Dweezil Zappa commented that Eddie had played him "new stuff from his record". It was not clear from the interview if the music was intended for a new Van Halen record.[48] In a May 2010 radio interview, former David Lee Roth guitarist John 5 was asked a question about Roth and Eddie Van Halen.[49]
Q: “Now Dave, of course, is back in Van Halen, last we heard…”
A: “Yes.”
Q: “Have you met Eddie? Have you gotten to sit down and talk with him any?”
A: “Oh yeah me and Eddie are good friends. He’s a great guy, you know, he’s doing great, playing great and looks great. He’s on fire right now. They’re writing right now, at Eddie’s place - at 5150 - and he is on fire right now.”
In August of 2010 Warner/Chappell Music extended its administration agreements with Van Halen (specifically Edward and Alex Van Halen). Under the agreement, Warner/Chappell will continue to administer their catalog of works. This press release also stated that the group is currently in the studio recording an album with Roth, that is due for release in 2011.
Re: Van Halen to record new album with Roth
I actually think this will happen since they've toured a few times (with Wolfgang on bass). And I think they've come to an understanding to just deal with one another and not let the old issues bother them.
I think Eddie's health scares in the past had a lot to do with this.
Re: Van Halen to record new album with Roth
Eddie has said in the past few years that they haven't been focused on creating new music because it's a dying business. As far as getting your product out there and getting people to actually buy it. I guess he got over that though. But he has a point. It must be tough for these bands making the adjustment from back in the day and having a record go gold/platinum in a matter of weeks. You have to measure things on a different scale. What that is? I don't know.
Re: Van Halen to record new album with Roth
If Wolfgang can't get the time off school to track the bass, they should look into getting that Guy from Chickenfoot to do it. He'd be a good fit for Van Halen
Yeah that guy would be perfect. I like the cut of his gib.

Re: Van Halen to record new album with Roth
I dug the two new Dave fronted tracks on the Greatest Hits they put out a while back, that alone gives me hope that these guys can still put out some great new music.
