DJ has changed the solo to what he wants to play it. I'm fine with that. Axl sounds a bit too raspy for my taste, but he hits 98% of the tones perfect. That is really cool.

I agree. DJ's solo is ALOT better than Robin's. Doesn't make the solo great, yet, but it's a major improvement.

Axl vocally is the best he's sounded in 20 years, but he's a tad too raspy for This I Love which is really an emotive song. 2002 Axl would sound great on it live.

Not that he is copying Slash, maybe he just has a similar style, but you would never see Fortus, BBF, Bucket, or Robin with a look that close to Slash's...

Just watched Paradise City, it was terrible...  Axl's voice was so shot by the end of that song, and frankly the outro solo is garbage compared to "whats his face" has been playing on tour currently.

I thought DJ was primarily influenced by both Mick Mars & Slash. Plus I thought he was friends with Slash, before he ever joined new Guns.

Not a big surprise here, but I disagree.  While I wouldn't categorize it as an epic performance by any means, I certainly wouldn't call it "terrible".  Axl was a little inconsistent, as he wasn't very audible at parts and not even God himself could play as good as "what's his face" at this point in your eyes.  So that's not really a fair comparison.

The crowd seemed to have enjoyed it.

It was terrible. Axl voice was brutal in this. Yes he sounds good on the slower quieter songs but for the most part this is what Axl sounds like these days. Inaudible. The mic levels have always been an embarassment for Axl in the new era of Gn'R and I'll stand by what I've said in the past. It's done on purpose to cover up his inadequacies as a vocalist these days.  Axl can still sing no doubt about it but he has ZERO vocal stamina

As for the crowd enjoying it,  well a hand full looked to be enjoying it but to say that crowd in that clip looked enthusastic is a HUGE stretch. They looked like a bunch of people who are waiting for the show to end but won't leave cause they paid for their tickets. That's what a huge chunk of Gn'R crowds are anymore when the shows are ending at 2:00am.

I agree with SG as well. the outro solo in this was extremely unimpressive.

I don't know what you guys are talking about with the outro solo. It sounds choppy as hell because of the audio being shit from the recorder. Sounds pretty fuckin' solid on the band's account from what I hear.

As for Axl, he's tired. I can pull you some 1992 shows, that he sounds just like that.

I do agree with Bono that there have been mic issues with Axl's levels from the get with new GN'R. Heard the complaints in 2002, heard it myself in 2006, twice, and it still exists today.

As for the reason why, who knows. But Axl has ALWAYS been an inconsistent vocalist. Since 1986. It ain't anything new. Some nights he sounds like God on a mic, and other nights he sounds like fuckin' hell.

Yeah i think Axl pushes his voice a hell of a lot to get what he does out of it. Sometimes he comes off better than others. He's still capiable of great peformances though...some of the 'If the world boots' and others have shown it.

I think i've seen the band pull of the ending solo better than that, they basicly shred out an impro ending it seems, so it's bound to be better some nights than others. I'll agree this was a fairly average one, it's not bad, it's just not stunning like it could be.
