Yeah, that's really cool. I'm happy for Slash that they sold out.

Metallica have already announced their second shows, and I've got tickets for both gigs, just gotta work out how to pay for them now... 16

As for places to stay, the show is in Enmore, just look for cheap accommodation around there.

Pretty Awesome!

I'm a bit spoilt, as after getting as close as I did at the MTV classic thing, (that was pretty much the best night of my life) it's a different experince from different places. Like nothing will ever top that gig, but this was still a great night out, but I was much more in the thick of the scrum this time, and with people who don't like crowds much so that made it a bit stressful....but then it's all part of rock and roll!

The venue it's self was retarded, Festival Hall in melbourne has shocking sight lines from most places, and the sound had some issues in the first couple of songs. But then there's also somethign nice about seeing slash in this kind of venue and not a stadium. Not that he isn't stadium worthy, but the smaller the venue the more personal it feels.
Almost a shame they didn't go smaller again and stay at the palace, although I understand why they moved it, even at festival hall it was jam packed. but it's a shame this city doesn't have a similar sized venue that's at a better standard.

That said, I'm happy to report overall that it was a pretty rocking gig. Slash and Myles don't fail to deliver the goods and the set list kept the punters happy. Despite a shocking storm and the gig being on a wednesday night the rockers were out in force and getting into it.

The band seems to be doing the same setlist for most of this tour, as it was pretty much the same set that appears at the manchester gig, but it's hard to compalin about that, because it's pretty much got everything I'd want, like a great mix of the new stuff, snakepit, VR and of course the classic GNR tracks.

There were some great moments. Classic slash stuff really. Like he thanked myles - after myles had introduced the band - and in true slash form he must have droped the F word like 15 times in the one sentance. And his usual irreverant kind of attitude to everything, the band just loves playing rock and it shows, it's good to see slash having a blast, the sence of fun is contageous, and he's definately one of those great players.

This will sound sort of fan boy for sure, but I always feel sort of privilaged that i've got so close and to see him in person like this. I feel in the future he'll be one of the late greats of the past (hopefully a long way in the future) - like Jimi Hendrix and so on - and so it always feels like a privilage to have been a part of the history to me, just by being at the gig.

It's very much a 'best of slash' show - pretty much focusing on the tracks of all his bands where he's really added memorable solos and so on.

And as much as I loved GNR and VR, in a way, it's a cool way to see this show, as adding in those songs, with the solo album tracks - and its sort of like getting the best of a lot of worlds at once - that to replicate it you'd have to see like UYI GNR and VR and Snakepit etc etc yet you also get the modern stuff like "By the Sword" and so on.

Although it does still make me want Myles in VR full time, either that, or, that dreaded GNR reunion! Just because this kind of stuff is so good. There can never been too many of these awesome riffs. It's great to see slash "back" so to speak....

Looking forward to the sydney gig now! Just have to not have too many panac attacks on the plane!

Epic journey back home tonight!

I was stuck in the car park after the gig for ages, and that was after I'd waited in line for ages to get the Live CD recording of the show as well.

Awesome gig, Slash was on fire, shredding like crazy on every song, and they brought out Angry Anderson (Rose Tattoo) to sing Nice Boys with them during the encore. Funny that Axl did that during the 2007 Aussie GN'R tour, and now Slash did it during his tour!

Will write a full review tomorrow.
