I find it laughable that some of you prefer what's going on now to a reunion tour.

Here's a thinker for you:

Maybe some of us actually have our heads on straight, knowing that a reunion tour will never happen, ergo there's absolutely no point wishing for it, discussing it, or jerking off to it.

But, good to see you stay positive and all of that.

This new band ain't gonna do shit so why not just get the real deal back together and let them do what the new band is doing?

Can I get Marilyn Monroe on backing vocals and Jimi Hendrix on rythm?

Here's a thinker for you:

Oh and telling me in a  sarcastic tone that it's good I stay positive is fucking hilarious. Are you for real?  I'm not negative at all. I'm 100% realistic.  My God this joke has been going on for a decade plus. Tell me what is there to be positive about? It's not about being negative it's about seeing it for what it is and stating I'd much prefer a reunion to what's going on now. I mean honestly look at their last set list.  They can't even be botherd to try and be a new band. But I can totally see why you'd rather see the new band parading around as Gn'R then have the old band perform their own songs. I get that roll  Wishing for a reunion is just as legit as it is for someone wishing for this new band to actually fucking do something.

i think that gnr is the best now than they have been since resurfacing in 2000

i dont get the setlist bitching....or maybe i've just moved on from worrying about it

with that being said though i feel privilaged to have been at a show where they played 11 cd songs in one go

as for late starts...whatever, its not gonna change...research before you go to a show and make plans appropriately...or dont go

its a real downer to always see the same shit spewed out....man i want gnr to play the USA...then they play and all it is for the next week is a bitchfest on how bad it was

anyway i'm with monkeychow....pretty much same feelings as him, love VR, love snakepit, love new slash disc, love old gnr, love chinese

where are Better, IRS, TWAT? what are we doing here? we're certainly not promoting or playing Chinese.
there is something seriously askew with having the same setlist for the past 10 years. it's evidence of the arrogance & laziness of the organisation. it's particularly galling this year as we actually have a CD now & there was a lot of goodwill generated by the early performances of the tour. but since then the enthusiasm has shrivelled and died as the band become increasingly predictable (again), & that is something that should never have been allowed to be associated with GnR.
Russ spoke a few pages back about the excitement of not really knowing what's gonna happen when you go see a Guns show. since the turn of the year anyone with a passing interest could guess exactly what was going to happen at a GnR show 5-6months down the line.

& above this all, GnR & axl should be judged to different standards than everyone else. no matter what the doubters/haters say, GnR's reputation carries with it an unique mystique & that power is being constantly diluted & undermined by the boring rotation we've found ourselves in. there have & always will be chances to stem the tide, but every chance that comes along axl & the band seem to let it pass, for whatever reasons - axl prefers the studio??

i love Chinese & i love Guns & most Guns members past & present, but this isn't what i love. Perfect fking Crime is what i love, why can't they play it instead of ISE or Brownstone, song's i & probably most of the people in attendance at these shows have heard at least a couple of times? i'd even welcome more Appetite - TAY or OTGM instead of such a stale & predictable experience they've been churning out acting like they're god's fucking gift.
it's not good enough to just show up & play the same 17 songs you played last night or last month. it wouldn't be good enough for most bands, it should be anything like the GnR experience. it's meant to be freedom, instead GnR live is now a scripted cash-grab.

Kind of sad to see this day come.  I've seen it coming gradually over the years and predicted it long before it started, but the actual downfall is really sad to watch.  People that you couldn't have paid in the past to say anything negative are now bordering on negative and are at the very least seeing what a lot of people have been seeing for awhile.

I've always admired the people that supported the new band in a strange way.  I guess part of me wished that I could only see the positive and ignore the rest of it, so as crazy as I thought some people were, part of me was really envious.

great, honest post.

i totally agree with you about the downfall, i can see reading & leeds being very cringeworthy, hell, if it's televised (bbc three uk normally cover big festivals) we may witness meltdown infront of our own eyes.

If they were to break out IRS, If The World, Catcher reguarly and a few other cuts off the Illusions, and trim the fat out the current sets, I would be delighted and some.

Biggest concern for me is the fact that at the beginning of the Canadian tour Axl was getting on in reasonable time, but as time went on it became later and he almost never made it before midnight in South America. There's nothing rock n roll about keeping thousands of fans, AND HIS BANDMATES, standing around for hours on end waiting on him. I cant fathom it, its just so shitty.
Theres been a lot of reports of Ron appearing more and more pissed off on stage when they go on late. I think if that is true he might just follow Buckets and Robins lead and say enough is enough. I really believe Ron genuinally cares for the fans and there must come a point where he will be fed up apologising for tardyness and letdowns, cause when you look at his comments and interviews over the years, he really does spend a lot of it being slightly apologetic about the state of affairs.

Ah, Guns N' Roses. I agree about the whole "going on stage late" scenario. It's getting old, repetitive, and down right idiotic. I prepared myself for such a dramatic (and late) entrance that night, I knew once Alice In Chains finished their set after 11PM local time, it was going to be quite a long wait for the crowd in attendance. I knew there was more than 18,000+ -- I was thinking close to 25k at best (before they decided to leave in anger that is).

Anyway, I went to get me a few drinks, and enjoyed the little break with a few friends. I remember telling them "just wait, it'll be approaching 1:30 or maybe even 2AM before the lights will even go dark on stage." They laughed about it... Shortly before 1AM, it all began. Bottom line, when comes to showtime, the man can still deliver the goods so to speak (except his mic had issues as the guitars overpowered his voice that night). It's just the timing he needs to work on, and needs some serious work to say the least (besides the same tired setlist itself).

So apart from the delay, when they did finally go on, overall how do you think the show/band went down with the the audience? Pretty casual crowd I would imagine, more music fans than Guns fans, I would have hoped it went down great smile

His mic doesn't have issues, his voice does.  The sound is set that way for a reason...all it takes is 5 seconds for the sound guy to fix it if Axl wants it fixed.
