To say i'm excited is an understatement. No band other than perhaps classic GN'R lineup, has the potential to come back and regain relevancy and excitement all over. These 4 guys are absolutely magic and from the boots of the Nudedragons shows, they haven't missed a beat. The prospect of new or unheard songs has me as excited as I was in 2004 about unheard Chinese Democracy myths.
12 days away? Is that even possible?

The brand new single from Soundgarden 'Black Rain' , from their greatest hits package 'Telephantasm' , will arrive 8/10/10. I haven'™t heard it yet, but I cannot wait for NEW Soundgarden!!! It is a greatest hits package with some new tracks and the single is actually a song from the past that they never finished recording and never released. They went back into the studio and re-cut the vocals and the guitar parts, so it should sound like the Soundgarden we all know and love!

References 'new tracks' plus seems to be a double? Hopefully plenty of new material then. We are only a matter of days away from a brand new song and a couple months away potentially several new songs!

I was really stoned last night and didn't process that properly. Black Rain comes out in a week and the hits album in September.
Awesome that they went in and rerecorded that song.
In all honesty, I don't want another hits set. Let's all pray this is that "B Sides" disc they talked about for years. '
DVD will obviously be a concert, maybe that club show.

looks like it is a 'best of' type deal with some new tracks.... how many?.. lets hope for a handful I guess but it looks like a double album so that can only be good given they only released 5 albums, only 4 of which were on the label releasing the album
could be more than it appears on the surface? at any rate, we are days away from a new Soundgarden track - that is reason to get excited!

Most likely 1 and a half of the album will be nothing but selected hits.
In terms of "goodies", the best you could hope for is maybe 3 new tracks mixed 3 live cuts, plus the others.
I don't see them going higher than those numbers for a hits collection.

Until we see the track list, the sky is the limit. Thayil has had a hard on for a B sides disc since the band imploded, and he is the main advocate of unleashing the vault on the masses.
We may get a scenario where disc one is a rehash of A Sides but with an improved track list, and disc 2 is a few demos and the rest unreleased material.
Whatever it is, bring it on.

I just don't see it. I get the demos thing, and like I said maybe a couple new songs and some live performances.
I think that B-sides stuff will be saved, reworked, and released as a new album down the line.
I don't see them blowing their load on this hits set, UNLESS, they plan to tour for a very very long time to support it. In that case, you're right, you might see Disc 1-hits, Disc 2-unreleased shit.

It's Soundgarden. I could very easily see it. Get out all the old stuff no one's heard before, all the stuff pre-breakup. And then down the line decide whether or not they want to start fresh and write all new stuff with a clean slate and nothing vaulted.
That's my dream.
