Re: Axl Rose lawsuit gets off to a touchy start
I'll take the odds and say Azoff did it. He was the manager and it was his job. Nobody else in the GnR camp has bothered to do anything for 15+ years. I've been playing the odds here for years and been right almost every time. I'd guess this is another one of those times.
I am sure Azoff was involved to an extent. But, was he there when things were confirmed, contracts signed, etc? With no written contract between Axl and Azoff and no documents on the tour available for inspection, we really have no idea who did what.:|

Like CD never being released...
I don't know what you've been right about. Not goating you, I honestly can't recall anything. You constantly take whatever negative stance there is, not saying you haven't been right about stuff (because, you do love complimenting yourself ), but it's kind of like answering no to every answer on a test, every once in a while you get one right. I just honestly don't know/remember what you've been right about.
And I'm sure you've got all those correct assumtions written down some place.
If Azoff did put that tour together he did a really shitty job. We were all blaming Beta and Fernando for it, if I remember right...
The old site had a contest for picking the date. I suspected it would never be released, but picked a date several years into the future at the time. I assure you I was closer than almost anybody else was.
I don't just randomly pick negative things to say and hope they come true. I look at the situation objectively and make my best guess. And I'm right or very close to right 90% of the time. I know that bothers a lot of you because you think I just post everything negative and hope for the best, but you couldn't be more wrong. I'd be posting about reunion rumors left and right if it was about posting what I want to happen. I just call it as I see it and it just frosts some of you. Too bad.

Factually, yes. Realistically, no. We know exactly what happened. The GnR camp has done absolutely nothing on their own. This wasn't likely the first time they got motivated to do something given all of their other chances to do something and passing up that option.
Re: Axl Rose lawsuit gets off to a touchy start
I'm going to speculate that it's probably something in the middle of both sides.
Azoff probably did want a reunion, and because he isn't an idiot, he was probably trying to ease Axl into the idea and therefore from Axl's pov it seemed that he promiced one thing before being hired and another after getting the job.
Meanwhile, someone corporate clearly droped the ball with the CD release, as the album had the worst delivered release of any comperable band IMO, but I suspect Axl punished them for this fuck up by going underground, probably because he was pissed they fucked him over, but the result ended up fucking himself as well and his absence didn't encourage them to do anything.
Then as for this tour, who knows, but I'd say it's probably something like the band booked it themselves, because they no longer were talking to Azoff after he'd mentioned reunion just one too many times and because of the previous bullshit. So maybe azoff didn't do the work, but then I'm guessing he wasn't exactly on speeddial and hang out for pizza status with the GNR clan by then.....Meanwhile, there are some pretty strong Conflict of Interest possibilities when someone wears as many hats as Azoff....so in the end i'd guess neither of them got what they were expecting from the deal.
Lets pretend there are conflict of interest issues...as I said earlier - we all knew it before he was their manager, how did NOBODY in the GnR camp know it? Sorry, that doesn't fly.

Well...what we knew about was the *potential* for conflict not the actual presence of that conflict.
That is, if a person controls an artist managment business, a ticketing empire, and a record-company/tour-company hybrid, and has fiduciary duties to each of those parties, it's *potentially* possible for situations to arise where the best interst of one party is in conflict of the other.
That doesn't mean it will happen, and the person in question may have a strategy to avoid breaching their ethical obligations if such a situation does arise.
Likewise in relation to the reunion, we knew it's likely Azoff would be interested in one, given it would likely generate massive business for the band, and given his history as a facilitator in similar situations. But that doesn't mean he *will* try and make it happen, if he has said he will not.
The claim in this lawsuit isn't that the GNR camp didn't know of these issues, it's that representations were made to them that these things would not become issues. That is, that a reunion was not on the table, and that no conflict would occur between the various businesses in question. The allegation being made is that the promices did not live up to the hype, and that in fact these things did occur.

So someone murders 5 people, promises to never do it again, and they believe him? More incompetence from the GnR camp.

In stead of spending your time on things that frustrate you, you should try and spend it on things you love. It's incredible how that kind of behaviour can ease your mind...
Go on Buzzsaw, try it.... Pretty soon you'll find yourself strolling in a nearby park whistling SCOM along with the birds!

GnR doesn't frustrate me at all. It's quite entertaining actually. Coming here and discussing the failures is relaxing...reading crazy defending of every situation is downright funny.
The best part of all of this is that my only concern about all of this was that it would tarnish the legacy of the real band. From what I've seen, it has only increased the appreciation for the real band, so other than missing out on 20 years of potentially great music, this has been everything I could have hoped for.
I would say I'm a lot closer to spending my time on things I love than you are. Perhaps you need to follow your own advice and stop trying to convert me into something I'll never be.

Oh, so it's like... you enjoy selfinflicting pain? You predict your worst case scenario and when it comes true you enjoy the missery just because your prediction came true. Aha! Normal and healthy way to spend your time! Jeeezz...
I'm not trying to convert you into being a GNR-fan anno 2010.
Hey! you know what!??
Your kind of trolls remind me of those crazy anti-Apple haters. You know, the ones who will volunteerly stand in line for hours for a new iPhone, just to smash it with a sledgehammer infront of the store... They too find it funny and get a hard-on when things go wrong...
Just trying to make you see the imature and unhealthy nature of your ways....
