You could argue that he's playing the TIL solo with his own feel. Maybe he's not playing it note for note on purpose, like they do with Slash's solos etc.

in regards to production...i dont think thats the problem... i think the problem is that the band was unwilling to drop some of the different layers....5 guitars? really? bass and sub bass? 2 drummers and loops?

get the 8 guys in the band in the studio at one time and pound it out as they play it live...hell leave axl to his own devices to record vocals later if he must but i think that little thing alone would do alot for the cohesiveness of the album...as for catcher...love it, but hey it seems that the songs i love are the ones that others around here blow off as crap so what do i know
