I happen to think the album mix/production is pretty fucking great considering how many layers of tracks and instruments there are on there.

What I meant is, the songs couldn't have changed enough for you to like them. At least in my opinion. I'm still surprised by how some people claim to LOVE the leaks and not the finished product. I honestly don't think there's enough of a difference for that to occur. To each their own though. Who am I to put words in your mouth? Maybe if they re-tweaked all the songs sans TWAT, you would've loved the album. But I'd bet the house that it wouldn't have made a difference. AND NOT because you just didn't want to like the album. That's NOT what I'm saying.
I would love to hear a stripped down version of the songs. I'd be all over it. Unfortunately that isn't an option...even the demos have too much shit going on. My favorite UYI song is Estranded - Axl's baby. I actually lean towards Axl's songs on UYI, so I don't know why it would be so hard to believe that I could like the songs without so much clutter.

That may be so, but the end result is a pile of crap. maybe the mixer did an amazing job given what he had to work with, but when all is said and done, it still sucks. Less is definitely more. Good songs will always stand on their own without a million layers...

I don't think you're biased against the music. I just don't think any changes would've made you like them any better. We'll never know, because it won't ever happen. But for arguments sake, what songs do YOU think you may have liked if they were mixed a little differently?

Not to be a dick, but what's the point of that? Who really gives a total shit what Fernando and DickBag Ashba think about Chinese Democracy. And I think Pitman's work is excellent, just WAY too high in the mix.

Not a clue. As I said, there's no way to tell if the songs themselves are decent since you can't really hear the song. My best guess would be Better, but no way to know for sure. I can safely tell you it wouldn't be Shacklers. I don't care who plays that song, it blows.
