Re: GNR Rumoured To Play in Sydney Australia December 2010
So Monkeychow - wanna place any bets on there being trouble at this event caused by pissed bogans?
(No offence to Bogans out there I'm a bit of one myself at times - but I just know that this sort of event brings them out of the woodwork though).

Re: GNR Rumoured To Play in Sydney Australia December 2010
Monkeychow, I just got nofication from Ticketek about it and it said:
Thanks bro...already ordered from showbiz though...it's $15 fee but I wasn't taking any chances....I need my GNR fix!!
If they are only doing a Sydney show then I won't be seeing them. Already flying to Sydney next month to see Slash. Unfortunately I'm not made of money
Yeah I hear that. This is turning into an insane year for concerts for me. I saw Ac/Dc three times, just got a ticket to metallica (only one show though cos I'm broke), went to the slash MTV gig, and have tickets to two more slash shows...one of which will require an airfare to get there (and i'm not sure if I can get there or not now due to bullshit other comittments, but i'm going to move heaven and hell to try) and now GNR in Sydney..which is another plane trip...i'm going to be bankrupt!!!
But it *has* to be done. I've been dying to check out the current line up since those asian boots. I imagine playing to bogan aussie car fans it will probably be an AFD heavy set, but I'll quietly have my fingers crossed from some Chinese Democracy tracks too.
I'm pretty excited about this shit!:mosh::mosh:
As for trouble at the event...it's quite possible...some of these car racing events have a bad rep, and the general public here may not have moved on from GNR's riot history....but lets hope it all goes smoothly.....I'd love it to be a real ass kicking show that shuts up the media...like those asian gigs were.

The latest news now is that Axl has demanded the withdrawal of all his quotes used in the official press release that was sent around the country yesterday.
http://www.triplem.com.au/sydney/music/ … -94x5.html
Massive news about a huge, huge rock act. Guns N Roses will headline the Telstra 500 V8 Supercars in Sydney!
Yes, Axl Rose will actually be in the country. How good is that! Rest assured we'll be trying as hard as humanely possible to get one of our favourite rockers in our studios.
However, in a strange - or maybe predictable - turn of events Axl has already started causing problems.
Following the official announcement this morning, Axl demanded the withdrawal of all his quotes used on the official press release that was sent around the country.
And it's not as if he said anything controversial. He just talked about how couldn't wait to get into a fast car and was loving the prospect of playing in Australia again.
We'll see what happens but we assume the organisers know about Axl's notoriously diva-like reputation when it comes to touring and playing live.
Whatever the case the show promises to be 'classic Axl' and he's left the door open for more shows in other cities.
It will be the Gunners first shows in Australia since 2007.
Prices range from just $91 for a Saturday only ticket including an entire day of action and the Saturday night concert, or a three day pass from just $156. The concert is free with any Saturday ticket.
All the action happens at ANZ Stadium, Sydney Olympic Park. Tickets go on sale from Monday, July 19.
Unless this is some sort of an attempt to drum up some additional publicity - WTF? There was nothing negative in those quotes - quite the opposite in fact.
Seriously the way this little fucker of a band is run/managed never ceases to amaze me.

hahah, I wish!! Actually quite the opposite...i'm a broke mofo now!!! I've just got quite intense these days, in that the rest of my life is an utter shambles so I'm basicly living for music alone at the moment and spending everything I got lol

One thing I've noticed is that I think they changed the background blurb about the band that was on the offical supercars site.
It was surprising in the first place it had some strange stuff - including comments from whoever wrote it that the 2002 tour had gone bad, and a surprising amount of info about Slash and VR considering this band does not feature them, it almost made it sound like it did somehow.
If Axl made a complaint, I wouldn't be surprised if it related to that stuff...as it read like it was lifted from wikipedia or something and not at all like the promo stuff should be like.
