Re: Not likely to see Appetite on Guitar Hero or Rock Band
I coach 9 - 12 year old kids and I ALWAYS ask them what kinds of music they like and they tell me a bunch of shit bands and AC/DC . AC/DC is always mentioned and they are without a doubt the #1 answer that young kids say when I ask them who their favorite band is.
Could it be that every album and every song being about the devil, tits n' ass and booze is a bit easier to grasp for a 10-year-old is part of the reason?

If that was the case they'd all be saying Motley Crue.

Guys you're all missing the point.
Guns N' Roses is a big enough brand name, that Axl has the ability to sit back, and wait for his offer for "Guitar Hero: Guns N' Roses" or more likely "Guns N' Roses: Rock Band".
The thing is, GN'R only has so much of a discog, and CD has already been fully released as an album to RB. So when the time does come, and a 30-song set is requested, it's pretty much gonna swallow up most of AFD, Lies, UYI I & II in one swoop.
It's the same reason imo that bands like AC/DC, The Rolling Stones, KISS, Led Zeppelin, Queen, U2 and also GN'R, have held out on over-releasing material to these games. Why? Why go for chicken feed when you've got the damn henhouse waiting?
It's just a matter of dollars, negotiations, and bottom line people to put it together. If Axl was ever truely serious about this 2009-10 band, he'd get the band together, record their likenesses, and sign a deal, and release "Guns N' Roses: Rock Band", with Axl, DJ, Ron, Richard, Tommy, Frank, Dizzy & Chris, hit the big payday, score the biggest promo that can be scored these days for a music artist, and Slash, Duff, Izzy & Steven are completely cut out of it.
It would be a brilliant business move, and the ultimate JR end game from Axl to the old guys. Of course, half of LA might want to shoot the bastard too.
Anyways, I do think a GN'R RB game will happen some day one way or the other.
The more interesting comment was by Neemo... Axl at a KISS show? I thought Geno and Axl had a strained relationship, plus Axl's dogged them since the AFD days.

Fair enough...
But considering AC/DC's catchy/easy to grasp and to love lyrics and riff, it's a given that a 10-year old will bang his toy-hammer along to that beat...
GNR's evolution from AFD to CD will kinda grow out of the kindergarden-level.
With that said, some of my girlfriend's girlfirends love Better and TIL. So with strategic and thoughtout licensing and marketing, GNR would be on the minds of the general public. No doubt!
But maybe that's Axl's idea of selling out...
Re: Not likely to see Appetite on Guitar Hero or Rock Band
you know what, the world of music would be better if Slash or whoever were whoring the Gn'R catelogue out to everyone so that the music is fucking heard rather than this artistic pretentious crap that Axl claims to be holding on to so dearly. I coach 9 - 12 year old kids and I ALWAYS ask them what kinds of music they like and they tell me a bunch of shit bands and AC/DC . AC/DC is always mentioned and they are without a doubt the #1 answer that young kids say when I ask them who their favorite band is. That's insane and it shows that at least they know who AC/DC is and it's because AC/DC promotes thier music the way bands do in 2010. These 10 year old kids have almost zero clue who Guns N' Roses is. Half the tiem they stare at me with a blank face cause they can't figure out who I'm, talking about. Fuck Axl Rose, put AFD on Rockband and Guitar hero and the people who thinks it's selling out can look the other way. Its' 2010 for god's sake. Legit music is losing out to manufactured shit because people are worried about selling out. There's no such thing anymore. get over it.
Anybody who signs to a major label is selling out in my opinion.:/ What's the difference between Rock Band and ITUNES or CD and cassette or just simply streaming your album for free on the internet to PROMOTE the band so people will buy more concert tickets and merchandise? It is only a different way of delivering your product to the customer.
For whatever reason, Axl does a bad job of delivering his product to the consumer.

Maybe Axl's getting Tommy to replace DJ.
