Saw them talking about this topic on another site...

"In the most recent message, which was in response to a question we asked about getting Guns N' Roses' classic debut album, Appetite for Destruction, in Rock Band and Guitar Hero, Slash claims that it's less than likely since Axl Rose holds all rights to Guns N' Roses licenses."

I didn't know that Axl "holds all rights to Guns N' Roses licenses"

I thought it was more like they (original members) had to be in agreement on it, in order for the songs to be used in movies, games etc etc.

Anyway...

If Axl holds all the licensing-rights but doesn't want to license old material because former members might get paid royalties as songwriters, that's kinda sad for us fans...
sad

What's your guys views on the matter?

If Axl holds the rights, then he makes the call. Simple. If they don't like it, well, they made their bed.

Re: Not likely to see Appetite on Guitar Hero or Rock Band

well it does make sense since Axl owns the GN'R name, I guess that means Appetite will probably never be on Rock Band or Guitar Hero as a full album, I would say that Axl is probably more interested in releasing new material, but we all know that's a lie. 16

Axl doesn't appear to be interested in doing anything but cash grab tours.

GnR Caskets, GnR Shit Tickets

Hey ya know what would be cool? a GTA style Video game that incorporates the RB/GH peripherals...it could be Reckless Road the Video Game.... 9

I think Axl holding this license is positive. Why do I have the sneaky feeling that if Slash held them, we would have another Kiss on our hands when it comes to branding and merchandise?

14 Reckless Road the Video Game FTW!!!

Sometimes, and most of the time, I'm glad that Axl is very picky on what GNR put out there. I keep reminding myself on what Tom Zutaut said, that Axl is the only artist he ever worked with who truly is not in it for the money. Kinda confirms for me that Axl is passionate and all about his art!

But at the moment, I'm at wierd place where I would just love to by new products from my favourite band. New allbum, new live DVD/bluray, previous albums on GH/RB etc etc...

Very true! And thank God!!!! Him and his wife would go all Sharon Osbourne and Gene Simmons on the GNR vault of goodies...

I don't know why I have that feeling. I just do. I don't trust Slash with this stuff. If I am to believe his version of the "sign off the music or I won't go on stage" incident, signing off like that speaks volumes itself about how he's not the right person to handle the back catalouge. God knows what kind of deals he would have made if he had the rights. It's easy to pull the "he drags the name thru the mud" when you're on the outside of it because you were dumb enough to sign off on it in the first place.
