Re: 2009-10 Chinese Democracy World Tour
It has nothing to do with the size of the venue being played. It has to do with how many tickets are sold, how many beers are bought, and how much merchandise is bought. Did the promoter make money, did the band make money?
Yes, I agree that a US tour is much more challenging than the rest of the world and there is a reason as to why they aren't coming here in the near future. However, there are a lot of reasons why their US tours have been a mess. Inappropriate venues and touring schedules chief among them.
Unlike you and Buzz, I don't know what is going to happen in the future so I will choose to wait until it happens (and it will happen). We will see then.

Re: 2009-10 Chinese Democracy World Tour
I said this before, but I think people are exaggerating about the differences in perception of GNR between the US and the rest of the world. People are talking like a tour would bomb in the US and 500 people would show up, yet they can go to ANY other country and sell out on any given night. While this tour is going well in Europe, I think attendance numbers are around the same as they were the last time they were there in 2007. I haven't read about sell out crowds. They're playing LOTS of shows, and enough people are showing up for it to be profitable. Same thing would, and has happened in the US.
My friends did and would go to another show. Went in 2002, 2006, will go again whenver the time comes. I have one friend who routinely asks me when we're going to another GNR show. To be fair, I have another friend who pines for a reunion show but he'd still be willing to give this latest lineup a chance. He hated Robin and he's gone now, so it's a plus for him.
Re: 2009-10 Chinese Democracy World Tour
haha madags
...as for people's freinds...if they arent into GnR or other like bands from back in the day then ya cant expect them to like it ... and as for LA ticket thing....its a hip hop influenced area and the people with the guns are likely to be in the gang scene so not likely to be fans of GnR...i know thats a gross generalization but it is what it is
for example my one freind...he likes billiy talent and weezer and shit so he has no desire what so ever to even hear new gnr...another buddy...hes into judas preist and iron maiden and always thought that the later 80's metal was crap so hes not even interested at all...then i have another buddy who loved SkidRow and GnR and Crue etc etc....he loves goin to see them when they come around...people have music tastes all over the board so ya cant just say NOBODY digs it, cuz it aint the case...then there is the fact that as people get older that concerts are less of a priority
anyway, i'm with madagas...if the promoters, labels and band are makin cash then thats what will keep GnR on the road
Re: 2009-10 Chinese Democracy World Tour
i'm not doing that....
i could care less tbh what some random jackass thinks of GnR...i know that i like them and i have some freinds who like them and some that dont...thats ok there are bands i dont like that my freinds do so its par for the course as far as i'm concerned
