Re: Slash Ponders GN'R Reunion 2013
If enough good artists/bands get inducted the same year, no one will even give two shits about this turning into a fiasco except the forum junkies. People learned from that VH bullshit.
If its an assortment of GNR members and some random singer, place it at the beginning of the show and let The Replacements or someone else close the show.
Re: Slash Ponders GN'R Reunion 2013
Three years is a long time really.
Lots of issues including:
* Are all original members still in good heath? (god forbid anything else)
* Has Axl either released CD2 or does he have active plans for a CD2?
* What is the status of VR and/or the solo projects of the Ex members
* Will GNR be recgonised as it should be?
* Has there been any personal growth/repair done to the Slash-Axl
friendship even if no other reunion has taken place.I'll assume that GNR is inducted cos its insane not to induct them IMO.
If we also assume that Axl and Slash do not previously repair their relationship at least on a personal level, then I think a peformance featuring both of them together is unlikely.
In such a situation it seems almost more plausable that Axl would not go, although he might not be so willing to forfit a deserved recgonition of his life's work just because of his issue with Slash, who knows.
If they did talk, would there be some kind of old and new thing happening? Where the old members are the ones inducted, but the new members attend the cermony with Axl as well to achnowledge the later work and future of the band?
So many options.
New GN'R on a best case scenario doesn't have three years left in it. Hate to break the news. Unless Axl has a "Momentary Lapse of Reason" in him with a Learning To Fly single.
If Axl's still doing new Guns by 2013, the HOF will STILL induct GN'R, Slash, Izzy, Duff, Matt & Steven will all be there, and the HOF will pretend that Axl's GN'R doesn't even exist, and the band played their final show in 1993.
Which is kinda true.
Re: Slash Ponders GN'R Reunion 2013
I thought the new band was over when Bucket left 6 years ago? They were never gonna release Chinese or tour again. ......let's not put any timetable on the red head. He tends to overlook deadlines. My best guess is new Gnr still doing the same thing....maybe they get another album out. By the time the RRHOF rolls around, Axl simply blows it off and the original 4 perform with Slash's current flavor of the week aping Axl.
Re: Slash Ponders GN'R Reunion 2013
James,i think the greatest hits album and its success proves how much the world cares about original GNR. i don't think its relegated to just us on a forum. plus throw in the reality TV element of the will he or won't he and i think its must see TV even if u are not really a fan.
I personally hate Van Halen, wouldn't listen to a CD if u gave me the discography for free but i was damned interested in the whole reunion/HOF thing.
Re: Slash Ponders GN'R Reunion 2013
and another thing....why does anybody think Matt Sorum would be involved? He has no writing credits for Gnr....NONE. He was a complete hired hand. Dizzy has more of a chance than him as at least he did old and new and has writing credits under the Gnr banner. Sorum is a dipshit through and through.
Original 5 get in.....that is it.
Re: Slash Ponders GN'R Reunion 2013
Matt would be there more ceremoniously than anything. It would be about Slash appeasing egos. But if he chooses to go with Steven, and no one else, I wouldn't be shocked either.
And as for timetables... Axl can want it all he wants, but as you can see with the Azoff and Universal situation, he's already having to deal with being blacklisted. It'll just intensify as he gets older, and demand for a reunion increases.
Re: Slash Ponders GN'R Reunion 2013
Did Adler write much for Appetite since most of the songs were around before he entered the picture? I thought there was something about it said in Slash's book in the whole Axl gets 25% and Steven 15% of the profits or whatever.
And did Adler write anything for UYI? I know Sorum played drums on the album besides Civil War, but then Slash says Sorum played stuff Adler couldn't, so Steven couldn't have done drums for those songs. And if that's the case who gets drum writing credits?
Re: Slash Ponders GN'R Reunion 2013
the forumla for writing credits was built with vocal melodies and lyrics having the highest value....and slash aparenty is the one who came up with the forumla
ultimately it would come back to bite him in the ass a bit, but if memory serves, the forumla was made to downplay stevens significance and almost force a out of court settlment when steven sued the band after he was fired

the band doesn't determine who gets inducted....RRHOF chooses who to induct. Matt was a hired hand. Simple as that...as is Gilby, Dizzy, Tommy, etc....
Neemo, as the formula SLASH CAME UP WITH, Axl had 42% of the writing credits for the original band, AFD and UYI era. So much for the Slashites view that all the band members were equal. Obviously, the band members themselves didn't see themselves as equal. But, don't worry, the internet psycho fans know more than even Slash! Too funny...
