Re: 24: Series Finale
Right, but she was persuaded to break the news because of Jack's "speech" on the card she did receive. So was it just dumb luck that she got the wrong card? If she received the card with the Logan phone conversations that may not have moved her in the direction to tell the whole truth and/or do everything she could to save Jack. At least that's how it seemed to me.
It's a plothole. There's no way she got a different card. That card was intercepted. Chloe's not that slick, plus the card with the info was out of her hands.
The only thing that makes any sense is there's only ONE card. Logan's people got the card back to him, he erased all evidence, and anything that implicated himself or the president, and just left Jack's speech on it, so he could return to Taylor and go "I looked at it myself, nothing of interest" in order to quell Taylor's concern, and go on with the peace signing, and Logan getting a position of power back.
Instead it backfired on Logan. Jack's speech convinced Taylor to reverse everything she had done, and only when she was about to sign that agreement with Hassan's pen, did that change of heart come.
She agree, through tacit approval, to have Jack killed. And she was fine with that. Jack was seconds away from death, before she changed her mind.
I agree about people moving on and plans going to hell. However (I could be wrong about this) I sorta remember reading somewhere back when they signed their most recent contracts that the movie was part of the deal.
Doesn't mean much. The entire Sopranos cast has been signed for years, I believe before the original series ever ended. Didn't happen. The principle Deadwood cast signed for the movie I believe, like Timothy Olyphant, Ian McShane & Brad Dourif... didn't happen.
Signing is a good sign, but usually a clerical thing. In alot of cases with these TV shows, or sequels to popular films, most of the time people sign, before a film even has a script. Kilmer signed for Batman Forever before the script had ever been written. Jamie Lee Curtis signed for Halloween 8 right after H2O hit theaters, still took four years, Michael J. Fox & Christopher Lloyd have been signed to Back To The Future Part IV since 1990, even though it will never happen, just for example.
Re: 24: Series Finale
Buzzsaw, obviously I can't tell you what you should or shouldn't like, but I will say this. Like you, I saw one episode from season 1 and didn't think that much of it. It wasn't until a few years later and hearing enough people rave about the show that I decided to give it a shot. I started watching in season 3, then went back and watched 1 and 2. All I can say is I HIGHLY recommend season 1 at the very least. You need to give a show like 24 more than 5 minutes of your time to decide if you like it. But if you do watch the first season and don't like it, then you're probably not going to like the rest.
Re: 24: Series Finale
The show has its slow parts, as with any show. Certain story lines are much less interesting than others. You have to remember they have to fill 24 hours worth of material give or take with the commercials. So it's tough to keep the intensity level to the max 100% of the time. But you should find yourself engrossed early on in season 1. If not, the show just might not be for you.
Re: 24: Series Finale
I think I turned it on expecting excitement and didn't get any before a commercial, so I just turned it off and figured I wasn't missing anything. Same thing with lost. I don't get what all of the excitement was about. I will give season 1 a shot.
Re: 24: Series Finale
Ironically I was skeptical of the show in the beginning also. I was told how great it was in Season 1, turned it on for about 5 minutes just like Buzz, and said "I don't get it", and flipped the channel. I guess I was still too busy with The Shield, to really get drawn into 24.
Years went by, and in the summer of 2005, and I had finished watching The X-Files from beginning to end, all episodes, and was looking for a new drug. I caught reruns of Season 1 of 24 on A&E. This time I watched the pilot at the very beginning, and immediately was hooked. Watched Seasons 1 & 2 on A&E, watched their Thanksgiving marathon of all of Season 3 that year, ran out got Season 4 in December on DVD, and by January 2006 I was on the couch for the 24 Season 5 premiere, which is their BEST season imo. BUT, you have to invest in Seasons 1-4, if the great Season 5 is to mean anything.
Stargate SG-1 is another show that I dismissed after only a 5 minute checking, and years later went "fuck, I missed a GREAT tv show in those years".

Yeah I never got into "Lost" either. I watched a couple of episodes a few seasons in but I was "lost" not having seen the previous seasons so I just gave up. I'm sure I would've loved it. Everyone seems to love that show, but I'll just accept the fact that I missed out on it. I can live with that. I have no desire to see any of it now either after listening to my friends analyze every single thing about the show over the years. How annoying!
Which reminds me.
