Re: BLS returns August 10th
Black Label Society have revealed that their new album will be titled Order Of The Black.
The disc is due August 10 via E1 Music (in the US), Roadrunner Records (in Europe) and Riot! Entertainment (in Australia and New Zealand).
"The Doom Crew and I have been holed up in the Black Label bunker for the last few months laying down some of the heaviest, sexiest tracks imaginable," axeman/frontman Zakk Wylde said in a statement.
"We can'™t wait for Berserkers worldwide to hear the symphonic masterpiece that is the new BLS record!"
It was recently reported that Black Label Society will be performing on the second stage at this summer'™s Ozzfest.
Wylde and company will be playing with a new drummer: Will Hunt (Evanescence, Static-X) who replaced Craig Nunenmacher.
There's a bunch of video of them in the studio fucking around. It's funny shit.

I'll be interested to check it out. I don't like everything Zakk's done...but he sure knows how to rip it up when he's on! Hopefully it's a return to greatness!

I agree with this. I think he's fallen off over the past few years. Black Rain and Shot to Hell sounded like someone doing an over-the-top impression of Zakk. Let's hope he's on again. (The first step will be tuning up from drop-J, and using real amps instead of software plugins...)

Was he using plug ins? I didn't even know that, surprising from someone like Zakk who'd I just assume would be oldest of the old shcool. lol. Although some of the newer plug ins can sound Ok...IMO...maybe not in a home enviroment but once they're all EQ'd properly and mastered like they would be at Zakk'd level.
Anyway, I dunno I just hope it's something a little fresh as i agree the last couple of releases have been a little generic and not on par with his early stuff.

Yeah, I thought his guitar tone on Black Rain just sounded fake and processed. It didn't have that hot-rodded JCM800 vibe to it.

Yeah, I agree Zakk has become a bit of a parody of himself. Sitting there and just doing your little melodic metal riffs over and over, and even on songs that don't fit the rhythm... come on dude... we don't need to be reminded every six seconds Zakk Wylde is on guitar.
