Re: 24: Series Finale
The 2-hour final episode airs next Monday... anyone watching?
This final season has sucked, but the last half picked up pretty well after they announced it was the last. I figured some would watch the final episode of 24 just out of respect from the old days.
I'll be there
Re: 24: Series Finale
I've liked this season, especially the latter half. Just got done watching the latest episode. Not to spoil it for anyone who may not have seen it yet that plans on doing so, but goddamn Jack does a good RoboCop impersonation. He should wear that getup all the time. He's indestructible.
Re: 24: Series Finale
I don't see how Jack is going to get away with killing such high profile government and international figures to springboard into a movie. Then again, he's been in hot water before and somehow gotten out of it. Plus they're always giving people immunity, so I guess they'll be willing to make an exception for Jack.
Re: 24: Series Finale
I don't think a movie will happen, and part of me thinks a movie is actually a poker "bluff".
I always thought it'd be a great ending to kill Jack off. No one would expect it, and considering the fact he's murdering
at this point, I don't see how he comes back from this.
And even if he does, what stops the powers to be, which have already proven rules mean nothing, from going after Kim and Jack's granddaughter Teri, in order to lure Jack out of hiding?
Plus Kiefer Sutherland and producer Howard Gordon have both said, "it ends tragic for Jack. No happy ending" Could mean anything, but it could also mean death. A friend of mine predicted 'suicide', but I think they kind of already did that. They teased that he was gonna jump off that cliff in Season 6, but he didn't.
Re: 24: Series Finale
My theory is that in the final few moments he assassinates someone pretty important. Either the big bad russian guy, or president taylor. The movie happens storyline wise b/c he has to leave the U.S. and goes to Europe. Regardless, its gonna be fuckin great.
EDIT: I should also add that before he does that, he kills Chloe.

I did see in an interview recently with Mary Lynn Rajskub that Jack and Chloe square off face to face, so I guess that could be a possibility. Or she could kill him. Either way though that would be a bit of a shocker, especially if they're thinking about a movie. You'd think they'd want to have as many carry over key characters as possible.
The last thing I read, a movie sounded pretty much like a sure thing. I guess it's possible it could be a bluff but they almost made it seem like they could do more than just one.
Re: 24: Series Finale
Kill Chloe? Hmm, it'd certaintly be a shocker, but I don't really see the point in it. She's really been his only long-standing friend throughout the series, at least since Season 3. I guess if Chloe got in his way, but you don't want to have Jack go so ruthless that he loses all likeability, unless for the movie, they intend to turn Jack into a full-bore bad guy, like his CTU mentor Christopher Henderson (Peter Weller), who went that route and Jack killed him, and eventually Tony Almieda. I guess the end game would be, Jack becomes what he always fought against. Both Henderson and Tony told him "the job will eventually do it to you too". And Jack refused to believe it.
I dunno, interesting theories. I agree with Tommie, that promo teaser seems to allude to Jack assassinating either the Russian president, or President Taylor. Obviously not Charles Logan, because Jack had multiple chances to kill Logan, and that'd be anti-climatic.
It's just killing Chloe would leave only three principles left for them in the movie. Kim, Tony and maybe Agent Aaron Pierce to be involved with Jack in the future movie. All the other principles, if not dead, were written off and forgotton about years ago.
I know many think "24 IS Jack Bauer", but I would like to see SOME people from the series carry over into the movie, other than Jack. NOBODY currently on there, short of maybe Chloe & Charles Logan. But IF they do do a movie, I don't want to have to get used to ANOTHER new cast, which would be about the 5th time they've done that.
I know that they seem to have no problem with that, but I do believe those were the things that plagued the show's final season. They redid the cast over so many times, that the audience stopped investing in the characters, knowing they wouldn't be around long at all. Those the reason Cole, Dana Walsh, and President Hassan were DOA with audiences at the very beginning of the season. No one cared. It was what was Jack, Chloe & Renee up to, and maybe to an extent President Taylor. Renee is dead, Taylor is finished dead or not with her association with Logan... I think fans are gonna demand "more than just Jack" if they do a movie.
Re: 24: Series Finale
Yeah, I'd have a tough time believing a stalemate between Jack and Chloe will lead to one of them dying (most likely Chloe), but I guess anything is possible.
Cole could be in the movie, if Jack doesn't kill him first.
What ever happened to Wayne Palmer? Was he killed? I remember he was in the hospital and went back to work as president despite not being at full health. Did he end up dying? What about Audrey or any of Jack's other former flames? Just trying to think of anyone else from the past who could possibly come back for the movie if it at all made sense.
I always thought Kim's boyfriend and Jack's parnter in season 3, Chase, would come back somewhere along the line, but he never did and it wouldn't seem to make much sense at this point.
Also they've gotten some pretty big names to join each season, I think they could get even bigger names for the big screen to help draw in an audience.
