Re: Scott Says GNR Were Supposed to tour in 2008
Duff said Scott was full of shit on those GN'R reunion talks.
I think we all can universally agree that if Duff or Izzy says it, it's the gospel.
There was too much smoke in 2005/06 for there to be no fire. SOMETHING happened in that time frame. We'll never know exactly what of course, but steps were certainly being taken that went down that road. Instead of a yellow brick road, they hit a sink hole.....

Exactly.
Of course Duff is saying that Scott's lying. There were rumors of STP getting back together, the members denied it. I heard as early as summer '09 that Soundgarden were doing festivals the next summer and a few of their members squashed those rumors as well.
Something was going on concerning the old band, but nothing ever came of it.

I don't disagree, but when all members universally deny it, and you know how often Axl & Slash & Duff & Izzy are all pals these days (*cue audience laughter*), that we just have to take them at their word. No real other choice.
But I do agree something happened. I always assumed it was one of two things. The old guys wanted a full commitment and Axl just wanted a couple sshows (kind of like Pink Floyd, Genesis & Led Zeppelin have done in the past), OR... Axl wanted what he wanted in 1995, them all to be contract players in his personal company which had the Guns N' Roses brand name with it, and they balked, wanted equal shares of everything due to the fact they are just as much Guns N' Roses as himself.

Take them on their word?
So all through 2009 Cornell, Matt, Ben and Kim all deny that Soundgarden will reunite the next year, and all say they haven't really spoken to each other. Then they all show up at a Pearl Jam show together in October of that year, and even then they all still deny that Soundgarden are reuniting, and January 1st rolls around and they all of a sudden have a website and announcement.
Oh, and the website had been registered since early 2009.
I don't take these guys on their word, and none of their words are gospel. And it's not saying anything bad about their character, but they are part of a business and marketing strategies, and more importantly a business that tries to control when everything is released.
Re: Scott Says GNR Were Supposed to tour in 2008
If Axl played even only one conert, he would negate all he had done for the last 15 years with Guns N' Roses. People would say "if that (classic reunion) is Guns N' Roses, what's that(actual Guns N' Roses)?
I'm glad it didn't happened.

I kind of agree. I'd rather see one or the other. Not Axl touring with the new band (or latest revolving door) and then reunite with the original. I can accept this as the new band (begrudgingly at this point) but can't accept two GnR's, that seems ridiculous. The whole thing is a shame really. After years of supporting the new incarnation, I have swayed back to the old band. I see potential lost and it's a shame.
