Hey All,

So I just got back from the Slash and Friends gig at MTV.

One again big thanks to Aussie, Mikka, for hooking me up, and to the kind folks at MTV for letting me in.

So where to begin.

I don't think I can do this gig justice other than to say: HOLY SHIT.

Words seriously fail me.

I lined up from 5pm with my girlfriend and waited it out...paid off in that we got front row right in front of slash's rig. Small venue for this private function - tickets were invite/contest only - not for sale - and only around 800 there.

I've seen a lot of gigs. But this was fucking amazing. Slash is fucking on fire, anyone who thinks he's lost anything seriously needs to get themselves to his solo show and get up the front.

The guy is fucking killer. Chops. Peformance. Feel. Pure rock and fucking roll.

I can't even write i'm not with it. A few observations....slash is back...he's really on fire again like the old days...it was great....and miles kennedy is fucking awesome....I'm really sold on this dude now...put him in VR....seriously his voice was great!! On the solo tracks, the GNR tracks, the VR tracks and the snakepit stuff....the guy can do it all. And he had a HELL of stage presence too...i was quite surprised...but he was right down there with us interacting...great peformance.

Anyway...i'm not sure what moment was the best. There were so many. Slash snapping a string in the solo to mean bone and finishing the solo anyway by playing the same shit differently..all up at head level as you'd expect....the sweat..the rock and roll....all of those classic slash moments...like hitting a harmonic and bending the whole fucking guitar to do a dive...civil war...my god...civil war....how good did it sounds....all the playing...it was seriously mindblowing.....slash gestering at us  the "got big titties" aternate lyric to PC. ahahha. Totally insane.

I know this is an inchoerent fan boy review now, but seriously this was the best gig i've ever seen i think...slash just really owned the hell out of that small room like you can not imagine....apparently they are going to release the video on cable tv here on sat...i'll try and get someone to tape it...not sure how it will translate...but in person it the energy and the atmosphere was fucking mind blowing.....

I'll leave you with some pics from the show.....these are taken by my girlfriend and i think she did a wicked job!

You'll see i'm not kidding about being close!!!

I'm trying to remember the set list it was very similar. Stuff I remember for sure (order may not be quite right)

Nighttrain
Slither
Mean Bone
Back to Cali
Nice Boys w/ Angry Angerson of Rose Tattoo
Starlight
Nothing to Say
Slash guitar Solo
Theme from The Godfather
Sweet Child Of Mine
By The Sword w/ Andrew Stockdale of Wolfmother
Woman (wolfmother cover)  w/ Andrew Stockdale of Wolfmother
Beggers and Hangers On
Civil War
Paradice City

There was also another track somewhere in the middle but I can't think what the hell it was right now.

Might be others i've missed as well!

hahah...thanks man! The tickets said to dress "Rock Chic" cos they were taping it for screening on the new  mtv classic channel here. I figured my clothes were lacking so i'd make it up in too much hair wink

^Hard to say! I think it had to be civil war...the stuff slash was doing hitting those bends with the whole guitar....it just sounded fucking so so good. I mean it's not like i never saw slash before...i went to GNR in 1993 and VR but this was just amazing!!! I guess it was cos of my location...but the energy in that place was overwhelming!

Although Beggers and hangers on was real awesome too, and I think Myles sings all that stuff perfectly!!

Oh I forgot tere was more VR tracks with Slither too, I also remember

Sucker Train Blues
Dirty Little Thing
