Slash will PERFORM on American Idol tonight. Check it out!

Would Axl have to OK Slash playing a GNR song on American Idol? If so, I'd say there's no way that'll happen.
They talked about Slash being on the show on The Howard Stern show today. Howard described it as "pathetic". Artie Lange has said for a few years that if Bruce Springsteen (his favorite musician) ever did Idol he'd ride the sybian or get his balls shocked, or something to that effect. Howard explained that he looked at Slash how Artie views Bruce and how GNR used to be the coolest band. He went on to talk about how they broke up when the grunge era came along and made GNR look uncool. He also said there were many other factors involved in the breakup including very strong personalities in the band and drug usage, among other things, but they left A LOT of money on the table.
It was a good listen. We'll see what he has to say about Slash's performance tomorrow. And mind you, Howard is a fan of American Idol. He's watched the show ever since it debuted and he's even started voting for Allison (I think her name is) the last 2 weeks. So he's a fan of the show and hates the fact that Slash is on. I HATE the show and HATE the fact that Slash is on. I guess some people are more open-minded. That's one I can't get on board with.

No, he doesn't. Anyone can cover anyone's music live as long as they pay the royalties. Even better, Slash doesn't have to pay any royalties on any music he has a writing credit on.
Re: Slash to be on American Idol next week
Just to make a correction, Stern didn't describe Slash being on American Idol as "pathetic", he said it was "depressing". Sorry for the slipup, my original recording was all messed up. Depressing is a little less harsh than pathetic, I think.

When they shortly spoke to Slash, was he nervous, or did he just have a twitch in his throat, because his voice was so hoarse you could hardly make out what he was saying...
He rocked on School's Out though, some very tasty solos and riffing.
Those Idol singers though... LAME!!!

Re: Slash to be on American Idol next week
Slash was on American Idol again tonight. At least I think he was. He was part of some comedic skit they did during the show. I absolutely hate the show and never watch it, but it happened to be on while I was in the room and I heard Jonah Hill say Slash was there AFTER he mentioned a bunch of celebrities who weren't really there. But Ryan Secrest said it really was Slash, and it sure looked and sounded like him. I saw it from afar so I'll feel silly if it wasn't him, but I'm pretty sure it was. After they showed him, Jim Carey came out.

i heard on the radio that there was an allstar rendition of stairway to heaven...
That was the only cool thing I saw.
Travis Barker was on drums, Mary J. Blige was on vocals and she killed it.
They changed the arrangement just enough to make it new. I thought it was Ace.
