You're right.
That's one of my "Moment's of DJ Clarity" I had this week. I was getting so down on the guy in a different thread but I didn't stop to think that he does shit for the fans that Robin would never have for one reason or another.
(I know we're talking about how cool what Ron did/does is, but what you said just reminded me of the whole situation)
Yeah that was my point in the other thread Russ. You may hate how DJ looks, plays a few solos, and 2 incidents he's tweeted about but if you take everything into account I think the positives outweigh the negatives. The band is as hands on with the fans as they have ever been. DJ has done 2 chats with the fans since he's been in the band, he's posted some messages on the forums, he's hung out and taken pictures with the fans. He genuinely seems to be excited to be a part of this. Previous lineups, you just didn't always get that impression.
Ron takes it to another level though. He's got to be the nicest guy who has ever been in rock and roll. Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating. But the guy is amazing.

Because ain't the ordinary run of the mill rock n roller. Ron is an academic. Almost professor-like. He ain't no Vince Neil or Slash trying to sound smart and educated, he IS smart. He got social skills most of these i-came-out-of-high-school guys simply only can dream of.

Okay, i'm just gonna say it....
Ron is the greatest guitarist to ever be in Guns N' Roses. Solely because he's just a cool fuckin' guy to the bone.
There's nothing "rock star" about him at all. He seems like "The People's Guitarist".
There's no one in Guns I can think of, ever in it's history, that would've ever did something like that for fans.
