Re: Slash's album sales predictions
It's just time to open a thread about it.
I refrain what I wrote to Fat-Drunk in a pm (it was before I heard more than By The Sword):
I am not sure if it'll debut at No. 1 position, although the competition isn't too strong. I don't think it'll reach the Santana territory, and it will be FAR from the Lady Gaga supersuperstar status.
It's going to be a slow burner, which sells relatively good, but not great through some months, as the singles get released. It will sell better than Libertad though, although beating Contraband is doubtful. It won't beat CD either.
Re: Slash's album sales predictions
It appears to be selling well on iTunes, for what it's worth. I was in a Walmart in CT yesterday and only saw 3 copies, so for people who still actually go to stores and buy physical product that could be an issue. Though I've heard Best Buy is pimping it out quite nicely.
Just for comparison, does anyone know the sales numbers for the top sellers in recent weeks? I'm pretty sure they've gone down quite a bit over the last year but I don't know the exact figures.

New Slash album debuts at #1
http://www.beatweek.com/news/3893-new-s … buts-at-1/
The new self titled solo album from former Guns '˜n Roses guitarist Slash is apparently on its way toward being a commercial success after going straight to number one across all genres in the iTunes Store after being released earlier today.
Following the Carlos Santana path of bringing in a string of famous vocalists to complement his guitar work on the album, singers on Slash'™s new record include Ozzy Osbourne, Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas, Kid Rock, andAdam Levine from Maroon 5, Andrew Stockdale from Wolfmother, and Soundgarden'™s Chris Cornell. Also making an appearance is Slash'™s former G'™n'R (and current Velvet Revolver) bandmate Duff McKagan, now also of Jane'™s Addiction, who provides bass duties on 'Watch This. Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Them Crooked Vultures) plays drums on the same track.
Two of the songs are fronted by Alter Bridge singer Myles Kennedy, who Slash has already pegged for lead singer duty on upcoming tour dates.
Slash'™s self titled album is available in iTunes or $9.99, or 99¢ per song.
The Black Eyed Peas were on the cover of Beatweek Magazine in June 2009. You can read the cover story interview here.
